Really clean amenities and nice grass paddock for campers. Managers were friendly and accommodating to get us in due to harness race being on (they are allowed to have more than 8 campers if there is an event on). So the only downside is the 8 spots only available outside of events (best to book if you want a spot). Apparently local caravan park owners have complained that too many campers mean they loose business (they of course charge like wounded bulls and make it unaffordable for families to stay)

$25 night for power and water on long weekend. Cash only payment. Quiet, away from the road, level sites with loads of room to manoeuvre large rigs. Clean toilets. Managers Robyn and Jim very friendly and helpful. Dog friendly park. Dump point.

Big shout out to management who helped us fix some problems with the Winnebago. Totally professional! Thanks to Tag who came to the rescue.

Be warned if you have children! We would never stay here again. After 9 months of full time travelling we have never experienced such a horrible place, that made us feel so uncomfortable and unwelcome. We were camped in between elderly couples who looked down on us for having an old van and children. They kept making complaints to the caretakers for our kids being noisy and playing with mud, within our own site! Andy the male caretaker verbally abused our 4 year old son for peeing on the ground, something I saw another young child doing that same day, and who have dogs peeing everywhere on the ground, not that it’s something we encourage but he’s 4! I went to talk to Tracy and female caretaker who has been fairly nice to have her husband come out again and start verbally abusing me about how he saw it with his own eyes and that it’s disgusting and if we disagree with him he’ll kick us out, he was either just a horrible person or he was drunk. He then went back inside and I asked for a refund as they have made us feel very uncomfortable, and obviously don’t want us here, which she agreed with, she even admitted she didn’t know the others would behave like that, and that’s why they agreed to a refund, which states is not available in their rules, because they knew they were in the wrong and to keep peace with the elderly people, very clearly showing discrimination towards children, they shouldn’t be offering families to stay here if they can’t accept children being children. Such a disappointing experience of mount gambier which was a lovely town we were hoping to have another week to explore but so thankful we are able to leave a week...

Showers were hot and good pressure until someone else uses water or turns it off. Burnt my back twice. Maximum speed limit (5km) does not apply to manager Dane who tears around on his electric bike doing god knows what speed. Washing of any vehicles is NOT PERMITTED, unless you are Dane the park manager who we saw washing his car twice in 4 days we were there. No open fires....umm ok. Pets must be on a leash at all times....ahhh huh. I guess it all depends on who you are. Dane has a bit of an attitude problem, no people skills at all, on a power trip, just not friendly at all. We would never go back there and would definitely not recommend this place to anyone while he is there. Be smart and pay a couple dollars more and go to a real caravan park. Price has jumped from $10 p/n way up to $30 p/n in a couple years. Not...

We stayed at the showgrounds for 2 weeks and used it as a base camp for surrounding areas. Dane (caretaker) was very accomodating. Amenities where always clean. Dane started the fire every night for happy hour and quite a few enjoyed this. The showgrounds is close to town, and the surrounding sink holes in the areea. We took a day trip to Portland, Vic as it is only 100km from the showgrounds. Also Port Macdonnell is approximately 20 mins south and also a good day trip. There is powered and unpowered sites. Water is available on all sites including unpowered. The showgrounds only has bore water, but we found it to be good. Pros: Close to town, amenities clean, great caretaker, great central base for surrounding areas, dog friendly. Cons: didn't...
