Cardiff Motor Inn — Hotel in Newcastle-Maitland

High quality, spotless, friendly, recently refurbished motel. RECOMMENDED!!

The owner must be ex-military because the whole place is perfectly organized and clean - from the perfect hedges, flowers all around, the cool pond, fast Wi-Fi, perfectly clean rooms, tidy new beds, clockwork checkin - it’s just perfect.. and it’s saving you money! Does it even matter that it’s basically set in an industrial area? Somehow, no… which tells you how well-run this place is.

I am sitting in room 8 at the moment- listening to the sound of frogs outside and watching my kids relax on a very clean bed, watching ABC kids. We have just finished delivery Thai (Pakpum Thai - excellent, on Menulog) but we could have just walked to a big RSL nearby.

This is exactly the kind of A-class utilitarian establishment that makes staying at the fancy-pants but poorly run upscale hotels in the area pointless. Why do that when you can get your rest here before hitting the beaches again?

I stayed in a family room with 2x kids (13&1) check In was easy as was parking. The room was spacious and immaculately clean. Gardens very looked after and everything neat and tidy. Basic rooms but that's all we needed as we were just visiting family. I thought maybe for the weeknights the price was a bit high seeing as though there was no pool and shower/TV a bit temperamental. My only real criticism (no fault of motel) and maybe a point for travellers like myself with family is it is a popular place for tradies to stay obviously who change over shifts all sorts of times so was a bit noisy throughout the night but settled again quickly and they were polite and no hassles.. there is also a large unit complex diagonally behind the motel that houses some 'interesting' characters with very colourful language. I'm no prude but even I blushed haha made for a bit of entertainment I guess but not when you want to sleep. I'd stay here again but maybe at the other end as I was so impressed with the cleanliness and lovely...

No car parking space when fully occupied & unfortunately has happened to me a couple of stays now as the managers have their own caravan taking up a car space on site & they also had a guest truck taking up a couple of spaces & the lady manager was unapologetic & rude . No shower wash in bathroom which would be nice instead of hand soap & I also got charged without my authorisation for a 2nd bottle of water from the mini bar & I only had one!! No apology once raised from the lady manager & she just said take another bottle! TV reception was terrible for free to air TV like 7 & 9 etc. & unfortunately kept dropping out which was frustrating. I normally stay for business trips every 8-12 weeks for 3-4 night stays though they won’t see me back! Bring back the...
