Boat Ramp Motel — Hotel in Ocean Grove

The location of the hotel was lovely, and the owner was easy to contact by phone, which was appreciated. The bed was clean, but unfortunately, the overall experience was disappointing. The room felt outdated, with stains on the floor, sticky blinds, and an old, noisy air conditioner. There was no one at reception during our stay, and the lack of soundproofing made it difficult to relax. The mini bath and shower combo was also very impractical and definitely wouldn’t be suitable for anyone older or anyone with mobility issues. The spa didn’t look anything like the photos advertised, which was disappointing, and while the pool was clean, it wasn’t warm as stated on the website. The bed was soft but uncomfortable, and the room didn’t have a welcoming vibe. We ended up leaving after the first night and went elsewhere.

PROS: The check-in was seamless. The room was a standard room and I found it very clean and well maintained. The location is great as it is quite close to the water and its great for a walk. The surrounds are urban but peaceful.

CONS: The pillows had a very pungent odour to them. There were four pillows and I slept on the one that was least odorous. WIFI is inconsistent at best with multiple drop-outs and long periods of non-connectivity. Being with Optus, my mobile wifi was inoperable hence doing work or even using the computer is impossible other than off-line.
