Garage Ocean Grove Big Breakfast" apparently “Big” means “bring your wallet and imagination.”
First off, bacon is not an “add-on.” Bacon is to a big breakfast what bricks are to a house. Sure, mortar’s cute, but without bricks, you’re just standing in a puddle of glue wondering where the walls are. Same here without bacon, you’re basically eating a salad that panicked and fell onto a plate.
And if you dare to want scrambled eggs instead of poached? That’ll be extra, too. Maybe it’s some quirky Ocean Grove tradition like having to pay to park in your own driveway.
The plate? A lot of uncooked spinach (I assume they ran out of time in the kitchen), a half-hearted tomato, one impressively bland mushroom, and two hash browns that looked like they didn't support the added cost of bacon either. Honestly, nothing remarkable for the price, remembering this is a $35+ breakfast experience.
The saving grace? Service was quick and friendly, it was quiet for a Saturday morning, and parking was easy.
Look maybe pigs a much loved members of the Ocean Grove community, that they are spared entirely from the breakfast menu, who knows. l will leave this up to you to solve...
Read moreThis is an old converted BP Service Station that has been aptly converted into a morning cafe. Inside and outside eating. Inside varies from table & seats, bench seating, high tables, couch and lounge chair so something for everybody. Outside in the forecourt there is large wooden bench seating which can accomodate 8-10 people but occupied by couples. Our order was taken by young wait staff who were polite, friendly and professional. The wait for coffee was longer than expected due to large take away demand among eat in orders, likewise the delay in delivering the food. The delay was not overly long but sufficient to start wondering if you need to ask. The coffee is good and the breakfast menu varied but not huge and reasonably priced. Expect it to be busy over weekends and peak times. Lots of free parking nearby and close to Riverside Caravan Park. Well worth for...
Read moreIf it was for the food and drinks only, they would get 5 starts. Unfortunately, the service was miserable. They have 3 times less workers they would need on an always busy Saturday morning. It's a big place and it took them up to 20 minutes to clean the tables while people were waiting. Had to ask twice for anyone to come and clean the table where we were seated for a long time. Did not get a smile from any worker, barely a thank you. Please try to become more customer-oriented, it's them who make sure you exist. The food is excellent at least! Delicious brunch platter with everything you can imagine, and the banana bread and coffees and smoothies were all great. The spot is cool, really unique and the outdoor seating has...
