I have been pretty disappointed from the moment our taxi arrived at the hotel and the disappointment continued on.
When we arrived there were 2 hotel staff in the driveway who proceeded to walk inside without so much as a greeting or offer to assist with baggage. I had approached then to ask if they could assist with taking our bag to our room as we had a 6m old baby and was then asked “what’s your room number”…..we hadn’t checked in yet so how were we meant to know.
The rooms are extremely non infant friendly if your bottle feeding with pretty much no way to sterilise your bottles. One of the staff at the counter agreed to microwave our steriliser bags, but then failed to tell any other team member about this so I spent the first 3 days having issues getting my bottles sterilised.
I also had requested that if we can please have our room cleaned outside of our child’s sleep times which I was told the cleaners should be able to accommodate for cleaning at 11 and of course all I get is a call asking if I want cleaning at 1 and then saying they won’t be cleaning after 3 so another day we won’t have our room cleaned.
A few other things that contributes to us never staying here again…. Room service is only available from 5:30pm - 8:30pm meaning you have to be out in the heat if you want to eat or be in the expensive restaurant I was told the restaurant/event manager would call me multiple times same day and then get a call 2 days later The Lagoon bar is seriously understaffed making getting drinks and food a extremely time consuming process Our in room coffee machine only makes cold coffee Our in room fridge keeps freezing everything despite turning it down. The rooms are very dated and the paint looks like it is peeling off. Our door lock has fallen off meaning we cannot lock our door from inside the room The wifi is extremely slow
On the plus side bring it up to 2/5 is the food we have had here is actually amazing. Complements to the kitchen staff involved.
For a 5 star hotel the standards are extremely low for service and for maintenance of the hotel.
We have another 3 days here and I doubt my experience is going to get any better. If we weren’t here with other guests we would have left and sought alternative...

We booked a wedding in October at this hotel, we had to constantly chase up the Events Manager to get simply information from her, I even had to go to the hotel in person to try and get responses, luckily we are local.
We paid for the premium drinks package and the Eternal Cocktail Package. My partner drinks Cider so that was one of the beer options and as per Queensland rules you need to have a low alcohol beer which is fine. So, we have one normal strength beer available. We had 56 guests and they supplied 72 bottles of cold beer, we ran out of beer in the first hour.
The staff there did not know who the bride and groom were, we were not offered food first and my vegetarian wife was constantly offered meat/fish even though clearly stated vegetarian in the run sheet.
The festoon lights were not put up around the pool area as advised and not only was it a health and safety issue, the photographer was limited in his ability to take photos of friends and family who flew in from around Australia and the world.
I could go on, but it's easier to do a list:
The room had mould in the bathroom and was not clean in the outside area. Food for the DJ was provided to him at the only time on the run sheet he was busy with speeches and not at the time requested. Flowers and vases with lights we supplied as we couldn't get a response from the EM, these were set incorrectly even though the instruction was to "press on". The only smoking area was on the boardwalk to the beach and the lights weren't switched on. Figures for the payment schedules were incorrect and had to be constantly requested to be fixed.
On the positives; the food people had, they said it was very good and the way the staff handled the issues on the night was great (which I had to sort out at as the groom, and was asked if I was the father of the bride). The reception staff are amazing and very helpful and the poolside outdoor area is attractive. All these issues were caused by very poor management.
Think very carefully before you book a wedding here, ours was a VERY simple set up and they royally...
Read moreThis hotel is a mixed bag. The rooms are dirty and gross. During our 3 day stay, we could tell that our room was never cleaned because the same dead bugs remained on our walls. Plus, the debris in the sink was never removed. The whole floor that we stayed on was broken down, old, and just low-end. Everything is so dirty. This is a 2 star hotel, that somehow has been passed off as a 5 star hotel. This place is just not worth it.
The staff at the breakfast were a bit rude and ill-tempered. The dishes at the breakfast are dirty and nasty. The equipment in the gym looks like it hasn’t been cleaned in years.
Plus, you can’t really swim in the ocean in front of the hotel. The waters are filled with stingers, sting rays and crocodiles.
Pro tip: Some of the other resorts in the area have blocked off beach front areas with nets to try to keep the stingers and sting rays out. To me this is evidence of a resort that actually cares about their customers. The Pullman DOES NOT have this. If you like swimming in the ocean, call your resort on advance and find out if they have a roped off area for guests to swim in advance.
If you are looking for a fabulous, 5 star beach resort—this is simply not it. Do not stay here. But, if you’re down for a 2 star experience and you just need a place to stay because you are looking to go to the Great Barrier Reef, then this could work for you.
And management, please do not leave yet another canned response. Guests are over it, and it further shows your lack of accountability. People are spending their precious time and hard earned money to stay at your resort. What are you actually doing to improve the cleanliness of the resort? What are you doing to ensure a better guest experience? Why isn’t there a dedicated swim area or even beach chairs down at the beach for guests? Please actually speak to these issues and what is being done to address them. Another, “we’re sorry to hear that you didn’t have a good experience” response is trite...
