We booked for 5 - 2 adults, 3 children all 11 and under. When I booked, I called, requesting a roll-a-way. I followed up with an email, requesting the same. We booked a two bedroom deluxe.
When we arrived we discovered that it’s not two bedrooms in one apartment, it’s two rooms next to each other. Children can’t open the doors between rooms themselves. It’s either incredibly unsafe with children left to their own devices, or parents have to divide and sleep in separate rooms, sharing a bed with a wriggly child .
There was no roll-a-way so we had 4 beds for 5 people. When my husband went to talk to reception, he was told ‘It’s too bad, it’s a long weekend. There are none’. Reception made NO attempt to resolve, even with the email request and reply in front of them. My husband asked for it be resolved upon our return from an appointment and was told, sorry but there are no beds.
I then called and I was told the same. It took for me to repeatedly explain that we had booked for 5, paid for 5, included our children’s ages in the booking, emailed and called in the request for a roll-a-way at the time of booking, and still only had 4 beds. I was told I could have a discount, but no bed. I refused to accept this answer so I was then offered a third room. I had to point out that that would mean one child (all under 12) would have to sleep in a hotel room by themselves.
I was then told they would call me back. No phone call. An additional bed was finally put in one room, but having to ‘fight’ for this is simply ridiculous. What kind of customer service is this?? Greed clearly drives their interactions.
Mattresses are so saggy you nearly hit the ground and I had to wipe down bedside tables as there was something sticky spilt on two of them, which hadn’t been cleaned up. Bathroom mirror had something splattered all over it too. Not great cleaning for COVID times. Or any time for that matter.
Good location, but wouldn’t...
Read moreAfter checking in at 4.45pm Friday evening 22.04.22 we went to our room 625, the room had a funny smell to it when we walked in that was the first impression we got was what is that funky smell. We thought we would put our drinks in the fridge, the fridge was turned off and not working and the top tray of fridge was full of water with a clear hose in it. the long life milk had to be thrown out as they were like sealed custard cups (curdled and off). so that meant no coffee for breakfast. my wife thought she would have a wine before we went out for dinner while the wine was cold she went to get a wine glass out of the cupboard only to find both the wine glasses were filthy dirty and looked like the cleaners just shoved the glasses back in the cupboard without washing them. so that meant no wine before we go out for dinner.
i went down to the front desk to make a formal complaint to the concierge and asked to speak to the duty manager he informed me they don't work on weekends, i gave him one of the wine glasses that was putridly dirty and also told him that the fridge didn't work and he just stood there like a stunned mullet and didn't say a word !!!!.
He didn't offer to have clean glasses taken to our room. He didn't offer to put us in a different room with a working refrigerator and that didn't smell He didn't offer to supply us with fresh milk so we could have a coffee in the morning. We could not even access the WI-Fi that was included in the room rate.
The OAKS website portrays beautiful pristine suites and rooms, from first hand experience i was disgusted with the service and the quality of the way the room was presented for $189.00 per night that we spent. To be honest we would have received better service from a backpackers hostel being in Sydney and the oaks first impressions are lasting...
Read moreSurrounded by beautiful national park, I chose to stay here for one night as I was inspecting a house in the area. Unfortunately you can’t access the bush land on foot from the hotel, there’s no tracks I could find. Home & Away’s caravan park scenes are shot closeby at the local caravan park which was cool to visit as a fan of the show. There’s also Lane Cove boat shed closeby which is awesome to hire different sorts of small boats - rowboats, pedal boats, swan boats, kayaks. Gets popular on weekends. Room was modern, clean, large shower, but the bed was connected in the middle, so rather uncomfortable, esp with the flat pillows. Pool area is great, spa jets strong but my partners skin reacted severely to the high level of chlorine in the spa. Gym equipment was near new. Had the gym, pool and spa to ourselves. DO NOT waste your money at the restaurant downstairs - Basils. Worst meals we’ve had in a long time, and so expensive for the terrible quality! The one female waitress there was the only good/personable staff member - we only wish she cooked our meals and poured the beers as the men there were inattentive and silent. Not many other meal options - there’s an Italian restaurant next door we didn’t try, we ate at Perillas next day which is a 10min walk away...
