Firstly, bedding and cleanliness of the room were excellent.
Renovations have been done really nicely, and for an old style motel, it's lovely and clean to sleep and shower, etc.
What let's this motel down is the service. On a 33+⁰ day in summer, we had family visit us, and we went for a swim. 3 adults, 1 teen and 5 kids under 10. All well behaved and respectful. It was overcast, and no other people were using the pool. The pool area is miles away from a solitary table and chairs under a tree, and there's not so much as a shade sail over the pool and nowhere to sit and watch kids, etc..... an employee walked past and demanded to know which room we were with and told us to leave because the pool was only for use by their motel guests. Which is fine if that's a rule, but it wasn't stated anywhere. No one else was around to be bothered by us anyway, and it was a stinking hot day. It's not a great look for a motel in the BV.....
Other things to note were the small but painful step into the bathroom area. Perhaps a rounded price of metal to separate the tiles from the carpet would be better on your guests' feet. It really hurts!!!
The fly screen hanging off the sliding door in the room. It wasn't a problem as we had a can of fly spray left in the room and used it when we went out for a bit. (Classic Australia lol)
Outside the rear of the room is a little outdoor area. It was a great little space to read or have a drink. Right in the middle of the paving, a broken brick was sticking up, and we kept stepping on it, and it hurt!!! (And cut) The reason for mentioning these things is that I let them know about them when we checked out. The employee (the same lady who told us to leave the pool) who I talked to about it, just said "bit by bit they'll make their way around the whole motel and make improvements".
Great, for future guests maybe...... however she cared not, for our safety on her property!
I told her my foot was cut but she didn't acknowledge it. She said the fly wire on the door was because of the high winds, but it was damaged before we checked in, so I wanted to ensure she didn't think we did it.
She didn't seem to care. About our stay, our comfort. Our safety.... in a major tourism area, you've got work to do on your service skills!!! One woman ruined our time and any return trips to stay...
Read moreI was greeted by the lovely Lindy, who made me feel at home immediately. Not only an advocate for her beautiful home town of Tanunda, local tourist spots and businesses, she absolutely is dedicated to her job at the Wine Vine Hotel. She was a breath of fresh air and full of information for us to take in. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble. She even booked us in to the Chinese restaurant on site, which incidentally served delicious, affordable meals. |The room was very spacious with a comfortable bed and pillows, 2 bucket chairs and a coffee table. There was a big round mirror on the wall plus a bench to rest your personal items on and plenty of drawer and wardrobe space. The toilet was on one side of the wet area and the shower on the other. In the middle was the sink and bench top with a small bar fridge underneath there was also some shelving behind cupboard doors that that’s a kettle, toaster, and enough crockery and cutlery for the two of us. There was also a hair dryer. They also provided shampoo, shower gel and soap, small amount of long life milk and tea, coffee and sugar. The free wifi was quite acceptable and only had slight hiccups with it, but it resolved itself.|Outside the sliding door, looking on to the gardens, were two garden chairs and a small table.|This was perfect for our three night stay, as it was conveniently located in the town. We will definately stay there again should we return to the area and highly recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for a comfortable space to call home at a very reasonable price. Thank you Lindy for giving us that fantastic first impression, you certainly made our stay...
Read moreThe Wine Vine has recently been taken over and renovated, previously it may have been known as the Barossa Hotel. There are 40 rooms and it is situated neatly along with everything else on Murray Street in Tanunda. Slightly concealed below the large bench in the Reception area was Prahb, the General Manager; she was very welcoming and open to feedback. The room itself was large, fairly standard but had most things you need for a short stay. We found it to be clean and quite comfortable. The bed was a little firm for my liking, and the pillows were thin - it may pay to bring your own if you are particular about this. The shower room was probably double the size of a 'generous' alcove. This room needed some painting finished, a ceiling fan and some more hooks or shelves installed. I booked our stay through a travel website and obtained a fantastic deal; we definitely felt we got good value for money. I'd recommend this as a nice little place to stay and an easy place to tour some of the many things the Barossa Valley...
