We had our best stay in Tasmania at Triabunna Barracks - redeveloped 1840’s sandstone barracks, designed in such a tasteful way, yet still staying true to its history. We had a great room, super comfy bed and an amazing bathroom with a bathtub for relaxation. Our excellent hosts, Kim and John made sure we had a great time, it was lovely just listening to their stories about the Barracks as we enjoyed a home baked breakfast.

Renovated into luxury accommodation, maintaining its rich history, recycling original materials and restoring it with love and absolute charm. Beautifully topped off with friendly and welcoming hosts John and Kim. Of all the accomodation we stayed in across our 7 day holiday, this was by far our favourite. Would definitely come again and would absolutely recommend to anyone. Absolutely stunning place to stay!

We received a warm hearted welcome. Fire crackling in the lounge area, gorgeous paintings, soft light, delicious wine & cheese. The Barracks have been beautifully & thoughtfully restored with style & sustainability in mind down to the fine details. The hosts were so kind & friendly. Beautiful home cooked breakfast.

A Historical Haven with Heartwarming Hospitality: Triabunna Barracks

Triabunna Barracks is a harmonious blend of historical elegance and modern luxury, a haven nestled in Tasmania's radiant east coast, just an hour away from Hobart Airport. The redeveloped 1840’s sandstone Barracks and Stables offer an experience that is rich in charm, style, and comfort, a silent storyteller of times gone by, meticulously fused with today’s highest standards of hospitality.

Each detail within the spacious bedroom suites is a testament to refined taste and thoughtful design, featuring individual kitchenettes and opulent bathrooms with the indulgent warmth of heated floors. It’s a symphony of the old-world charm and contemporary luxury, an intricate dance of sophistication and warmth.

The culinary domain of the Stables room is a gastronome’s paradise, embellished with a chef’s kitchen, a convivial dining and common area, and the soothing embrace of fireplace warmth. Every culinary endeavor here is a joy, with every sip of coffee from the commercial coffee machine a whisper of luxury.

Owners John and Kim elevate the experience, their hospitality is the soul of Triabunna Barracks. Their warm welcomes and attentive service make every guest feel cherished, turning every stay into a cherished memory. They are the heartbeat of this historical gem, enriching every moment with their thoughtful and genuine care.

From wine tastings and distillery visits to cruising the Mercury Passage, the experiences are as diverse as they are exciting, with activities like fishing, bushwalking, tennis, golf, and water sports ensuring an enriching stay.

Breakfast is a delightful symphony of choices, with B&B room guests being pampered with either a hot, scrumptious breakfast or a rich continental hamper to be relished in the comfort of their suites. Those renting the entire venue are greeted with a lavish breakfast pantry, promising mornings graced with culinary joy.

Triabunna Barracks is a journey through historical grandeur, a whisper of the past seamlessly woven with the luxury of the present. It’s where every moment is enriched with beauty, comfort, and the warm hospitality of John and Kim. Whether a lover of history, a culinary connoisseur, or a seeker of serene luxury, Triabunna Barracks stands as a beacon of unparalleled Tasmanian elegance.

A Hidden Gem in Triabunna

My stay at the Triabunna Barracks Bed and Breakfast was absolutely delightful. I have been captivated by the charm and history of the property since watching it being built while on cycling trips over the years. The owners have done an exceptional job preserving its character while offering all the modern comforts one could ask for.

The rooms are beautifully decorated, immaculately clean, and thoughtfully appointed with everything you might need. The attention to detail truly stands out—from the plush bedding to the little touches like locally sourced amenities that add a personal touch to the experience.

Breakfast was a highlight of the stay. The fresh, locally inspired menu was both delicious and generous, catering to a variety of tastes. I also appreciated the warm and friendly hospitality of the hosts, who were always happy to share tips on exploring the area.

Also i believe the "honesty bar" was a nice touch with a well thought out gin selection

The location is perfect for anyone looking to explore the stunning east coast of Tasmania, with easy access to Maria Island and other nearby attractions. Yet, the property itself feels like a peaceful retreat, making it an ideal place to unwind.

I cannot recommend the Triabunna Barracks Bed and Breakfast enough—it’s a perfect blend of history, comfort, and hospitality. I look forward to returning on my next visit...

This was the most luxurious accommodation we stayed in on our travels around Tasmania. The room and facilities were cutting edge. Situated on the scenic east coast close to Maria Island - the perfect place to stay if planning to visit the island (which we did!). Our hosts John and Kim were exceptional. Breakfast included both continental and home cooked options. We had both and both were delicious. We particularly liked the home baked bread and poached fruits with homemade granola followed by delicious poached eggs, sautéed mushrooms, tasty tomatoes with bacon, sausage and beans. All ingredients sourced locally. Gluten free and vegan options also available. On arrival we enjoyed a cheese platter with home made relish and pinot noir to accompany it. All lovely. John and Kim were kind enough to invite us to a barbecue they were hosting on Sunday evening as most places were shut. They served freshly caught scallops and crayfish which John and his mate Nick had caught the day before. These were accompanied by a variety of homemade salads and bread - all magnificent! John also makes a great coffee with his special barista machine. We cannot thank our hosts enough for making our stay so wonderful. They also gave us great recommendations for places to visit and eateries. We just wish we had chosen to stay longer than 3 nights as there was so much to do and see...
