Tathra Eco Camp|We were staying about and hour out of town, and were looking to move on. We were in the area and came here, before booking in, to have a look and decide if we wanted to stay for a day or two. |We were warmly greeted at the office, and told we were welcome to have a look around, and they gave us a map and the code for their brand new amenities. We started our walk, but didn’t get far before we came across a few more staff, that were working on new cabins. They introduced themselves and told us more about the park, what they were doing, and plans for the future. |After having a lovely walk around the park, and soaking up the relaxing ambience, we went and had a look at the amenities block. To be honest, we were beyond surprised. The ammenities are like something out of a home decorating magazine. The style and decorating have brought the bush landscape indoors, with luxurious appointments including a full sized, free standing bath, and rainwater shower heads. |The camp kitchen, the name does not do it justice, has outdoor lounge suites under the veranda, along with BBQs and a sink. Inside, at one end, there are all the things you would expect to see in a catering kitchen. Stainless steel bench tops, two sinks, a food preparation island, two door fridge/freezer, large oven, microwave, dishwasher, zip instant hot water, along with appliances, and eating utensils. The other end has a large, well appointed, dining area, along with a work station bench, under bi-fold windows that make you feel like you’re outside. For those who need entertaining, there is also a large wall mounted tv in the dining area. |We returned to the office, after about an hour, and booked to arrive in two days and stay for a week. We then went to their onsite cafe, near reception, and had lunch and a coffee. |We arrived on the Monday, checked in and moved to our site, and the staff that we’d met previously came to welcome us back and wish us a great stay. |Over the next five weeks, we made lots of friends, enjoyed the amenities, and attended a live performance by Gary Carson Jones, at the camp kitchen. |Sadly, we did need to move on, but not without hugs all around from the staff that we’d made friends with while we were there. |In the seven years that we have been on the road, this is the best park that we’ve stayed in. This includes the amenities, the large size of the sites, the wildlife, and most of all staff that work to make such a wonderful park for people to relax and enjoy. |Special thanks to Tim and Carmen for their...

Read moreStaff were very friendly on arrival and helped with advice on parking our van in the camp site. The camp sites are very generous in size with most sites being powered with water. However the sites do not have a much grass at all and sand is your enemy and its like camping on the beach, it would be better if they tried to get grass growing more. There is significant tree coverage across the camp,so most sites have shade. The bathrooms are possibly the most luxurious I have seen at any camp-site in Australia, it's like a hotel bathroom, and the staff do keep them very clean. The showers don't have timers and the water is nice and hot with good pressure, there are 2 shower blocks at each end of the camp, so you don't have to walk very far. The roads around the park are very bumpy with lots of cracks and varying levels, not a prob for bikes but not good for scooters. They look very very old and are close to being a safety issue for walkers. It would be good if they improved the roads. There is a small park that is suitable for toddlers with a few swings. There is a dirt bmx track for kids suitable up to teenagers. The beach is across the road and though the dunes, approx 5min walk for most camp sites, however this beach has a big gutter and is not kid friendly. The patrolled beach is approx 500m south in front of the Tathra SLSC. There is a good path to ride into the town area of Tathra. Optus mobile reception is poor, telstra is ok, but during a busy Easter long weekend the number of people in the area well exceed the capacity and internet...
