Location very close to Zugspitze and easy to find on the main road going through Ehrwald. Check-in was perfectly painless. There is a quite well-equipped guest kitchen (for guests to use) which is very rare in the German-speaking countries. The house has more cold hard stone flooring than carpet, which I don't really like, but is hygienic and reflects the local style. I luckily got a whole 4-bed en-suite dorm to myself, which I think was good value for €35. My dorm looked and felt more like an ordinary budget hotel room than a hostel dorm. The bathroom would have been spotless if only there hadn't been a long hair in the shower tray when I arrived. And the basin plug was stuck in the closed position, which was irritating. I did try my best to fix it, but it proved impossible without tools. Thankfully, the water did drain efficiently through the overflow. The bin had no liner, which is unhygienic and I disapprove of. The train toilet-style soap grating dispenser looks very industrial, almost military, but it's also very practical. The common areas were far nicer than the dorm, which I consider totally appropriate in a hostel -they are remarkably comfortable, although I would have liked more and more conveniently-located power points. I can’t review the complimentary sauna or the vegetarian breakfast except to confirm that both are available. All in all, I enjoyed the stay and do recommend this hostel, and the weak spots are, in my book, forgivable considering...
Read moreThis is my 6th time visiting this area-- Normally, I stay with a friend but she moved away and I needed a new home base. I knew that Mellow Mountain Hostel would be perfect from the moment I stepped in the door. ||I was travelling with my dad and my aunt so they had originally booked a room together but, upon arriving, they decided they would prefer to have separate rooms. This was not a problem and the staff quickly arranged this since they had availability. They enjoyed their private rooms but I stayed in the 4 bed dorm. It was very comfortable and I loved the size of the lockers. It was wonderful to wake to a mountain view every morning. Also, the cleaner came in every day so everything was spotless!||||I'm not much of a breakfast person but my family booked breakfast for us every morning. The coffee machine is great and there is juice, bread, cheese, fruits, and yogurts to choose from. If I were by myself, I would have skipped it but the family enjoyed it.||||I liked the social vibe of the hostel and that everyone was up for a chat. An extra bonus to me is the dogs of the owners. I was so happy to have 2 little pups greet me when I walked through the door! The owners are very in tune with keeping the dogs away from guests that don't want them around but, as a dog person, I couldn't get enough time with them. ||||I am so pleased with my time here that I am already trying to figure out my next trip to Ehrwald. Thanks...
Read moreI can't ask for more about this hostel. Best of the best.
The check in was 4-8pm. Due to personal reason, i gave the host a call and was able to log in after 8PM without a delay.
I can't believe how clean it is compared to any other hostels I stayed before: from your own room, to kitchen, lounge, etc. I like their lounge, lots of games, books, and calm music.
The hostel was also a good place to find a hiking friend or just to learn about hiking experience from other people before setting foot at your oan.
The view from dining room was amazing.
The host was super nice. Though there's no room allocated for women, she accommodated my request to be in a room with most women without hesitation.
I think it would be ideally perfect if there's a cat/dog to pet :))
I stay here again next time I come back...
