Spent a week here with my friends. We got in quite late and were immediately welcomed to a quick check in. They even allowed us to go to the dining room and get a plate of cold cuts (bread, cheese, meats, olives) before we went to bed, which was most welcome after a long day traveling. ||Room was lovely. But excessive warm, so we left the windows open all the time. Housekeeping was great, room was always clean and pretty, and there is a turn down service that leaves you chocolates and freshens up the room and turns on certain lights so its welcoming when you come back. Hotel decor warm and inviting. ||They have a really nice spa which I spent a lot of time in. Maybe its because I'm American, but I didn't really know how to use the saunas, and I felt there wasn't any instruction. Luckily, when I got a spa treatment (a great massage!) from Sara, she took the time to give me a little tour and explain to me how it worked. (There is a system of going to a particular sauna to start and then taking a quick cold rinse shower, and then the second sauna, and another cold rinse shower, and the third sauna, and then followed by pool and jacuzzi). Sara is a great representative for the spa! (Had a treatment from another masseuse, and didn't not enjoy that as much, she was a bit rude and like she did not have the time to deal with me. I checked in a half hour early for the appointment with the front desk and just let them know I was here when they were ready and I'd be reading in the chair fifteen feet away. She came and got me and said we needed to get started if we were to get everything on time...why tell me that when I was super on time?, there was also other little things that did not make it a great session). I really liked that the spa had lots of comfortable seating where you could read and look out into the pretty snowy mountains. I was able to get through two books during my stay here. ||The concierge desk was extremely welcoming and the snow concierge arranged for me to go sledding. He personally took us and made arrangements with the business and told me how to sled and waited while we went up on snowmobiles and down on sleds. He was very kind and proactive about making arrangements when I brought it up to him, calling the business to make sure the conditions were right and finding in me in the restaurant. It was a great experience. They also handled the ski rental vouchers for my friend and you can buy your ski passes from the front desk, no hassle. . The ski rental place is really really close. And we were able to rent and leave it all in the ski room. We had our own bin with our room number on it, so it made it super convenient to just grab our skis anytime we wanted to go out. ||My friend arranged for a ski instructor to do a private group lesson for 4 of us during our first few days, and it was a great experience. He met us at the hotel and worked with us all day, came in during lunch and took us again out in the afternoon. Our friends had a toddler and arranged with the same ski service (it seems like they offer lots of employee/options) for someone to babysit during the day. The babysitter they sent was such a sweetheart, the nervous mom seemed really comfortable leaving her toddler with her and we say her numerous times throughout our stay and she was just super with the kid. I think she is also a ski instructor, so she could also take her skiing if she was a little older. So there are a lot of options for those with kids, as I believe the hotel itself has a kid service for those over a certain age (maybe 5?), but I'm not familiar since this is just what I overheard the parents talking about. ||Shout out to Ingrid. I don't know what her exact job is because I saw her doing multiple things, but she did them all well and with a smile. She seems like a very warm person, and made arrangements for our seating at the dining area when we first got there (assigned seating for breakfast and dinner and that's your spot for your whole time there, free seating for lunch since its more casual and some people skip it). She also helps out at the concierge desk, and when I asked about the sledding she pulled up a video on her computer to help me envision it. ||The food was a bit of a mixed bag. I don't think it was ever bad. Sometimes it was meh and sometimes it was great. There were a lot of options, and I can't imagine anyone ever not being able to find something they liked! They really liked their options, like for breakfast there were 4 types of bread, and 3 types of croissants, and 3 types of muffins, and 4 types of yogurt, and 5 types of milk, 6 types of cereal, 6 types of tea, etc... you will find something! There is a omelet station which is tasty. Also, I didn't realize this the first day, but there is a menu on the table for breakfast (things like eggs benedict w/ hollandaise, and avocado toast, crepes, etc... , and you can order off the menu if you'd like, or just free graze from the multiple options already out. Dinner was different. Dinner had a salad bar and some random items hat are cooked (like a pasta carbonara, or veal ragout) , but is a four course meal, with 2-3 options per course. First option is a soup, followed by an appetizer, followed by the main course, and then dessert. Dessert was only one option that they put on special that night, but there were like 15 (I'm not even kidding) other dessert options out in the salad area. Its impossible to leave hungry. The portions were more than enough. They had things like fish, and pork belly, and beef. ||There is also a wine cart that they bring, and someone from our table would often choose a bottle and then they'd pour for those who wanted it. I wasn't really part of that process but those who partook said they liked the wines. ||Their bar area was very nice, and they had all your standard drinks. I wouldn't call them creative craft cocktails, but I was happy with my cosmo, and others were happy with their drinks. Service was good. We liked that the bar curved backward out of the way, and so there was some great spaces to play board games comfortably (we were not the only group who did this) without disturbing others. ||Overall I would say that is a customer service oriented hotel. And I think if you explain any issue you are having they would try to help you. Everyone was hardworking and friendly. ||Cons of stay: Pillows excessively flat, no firmness to them. Outdoor jacuzzi wasn't hot enough. Not enough variety in type of food (plenty of food variety, just no "ethnic" cuisine, all middle of the road European). They don't seem to recognize croutons as a valid salad topping, I had to steal them from the soup counter if the right soup was being offered. They also put out capers every night for salad but don't put them out in the morning with the smoked salmon. I think its just an American food thing. Can't stream to television if have...
Read moreIf you are looking for a luxurious, yet quiet and warm hotel in beautiful Oberntauern, this is the right choice for you. The rooms are beautiful and always warm. The staff welcomed us pleasantly and were always available and polite throughout our stay. We enjoyed the wide range of breakfast. For dinner every day was a completely new menu and a new magic experience. In addition to dinner and breakfast, we were served a light lunch and an afternoon snack. After eating, we could go to the ski resort. 2 big slopes and one children's slope are right next to the hotel, and if that's not enough for you, the hotel's polite staff offered to take us and pick us up from any close ski resorts. In case the weather is bad or you want some other activity, the hotel has a bunch of different activities. The swimming pool and saunas are very nice and definitely one unavoidable thing is the outdoor jacuzzi. Being in that jacuzzi while it's snowing is a magical feeling. The hotel has a well-equipped gym, entertainment room with various game consoles, table tennis, table football... For children, there is a special room with toys. The hotel is fully adapted to snow sports because there is an additional room within the hotel designed for drying equipment. We had a wonderful time on our vacation and were enchanted by the beauty and quality of the hotel. We will definitely...
Read moreI think that this is not five star hotel. The room was nice , clean and cozy but little bit small. We had a great view from the room. There were very, very hot in the room even when we turned off heater . We could not sleep beacuse of this. We asked staff to do something with the heat in the room but it didnt change anything. Mattress wasnt comfortable for me so I didnt sleep well. The food was fine for breakfast but dinner wasnt very tasty. I didnt like the served food. We had fish two times for the dinner and it was cold and raw. Starters were not tasty also. The best thing for the dinner was the selection of desserts. Everyday snack available from 15:00 to 17:00 was boring for me - always the same, soup from the other day and when we came at 16:30 we can eat only some leftovers of food. Staff at the hotel wasnt professional at all. Except for some staff at the restaurant. They didnt make us feel welcome , they didnt talk to us at all and they were not very nice. We didnt like interior of the restaurant and lobby bar - there were mix of many styles and colours, very disturbing and fake looking. This hotel was disappointment for us. When I compare it with other 5 star hotels we stayed this...
