Hotel Dahoam by Miha - Westendorf — Hotel in Westendorf

We visited the Briem Hotel as a half board package deal with Inghams. We were greeted on arrival by Christine, the owner, who, together with her staff made us feel very welcome, with a lovely personal touch. The hotel was located just on the edge of town with clear views of the surrounding mountains. Busses and train station are within easy walking distance as is the Westerndorf gondola station. Our room was spacious with comfortable beds, lovely cosy bedding and a balcony with views of the church and mountains, and kept spotlessly clean by the friendly housekeeping staff. Breakfast was buffet style with a good choice of food and evening meal was excellent…4 courses with a choice of mains, to be chosen at breakfast time. The bar was cosy with seating both inside and on the front terrace and was reasonably priced. We had a lovely week, despite the bad weather, and really hope we will be able to return in the future. We stayed here as part of a half board Inghams package holiday and were very impressed. Westendorf is a lovely little town with church, restaurants and music in the centre most evenings. The Hotel location was perfect for us, just 5 minute walk from the centre of town whilst giving clear uninterrupted views of the surrounding mountains when sitting on the front terrace. Our room was spotlessly clean and had a balcony too. Christine (the owner) met us on arrival and made us feel very welcome. She and most of her staff spoke perfect English so we had no difficulties in asking anything. The Austrian breakfast was excellent. A very comprehensive buffet including multiple meats, cheeses and breads, together with boiled eggs yogurt , juices and tea / coffee. Evening meals were also a very nice 4 course offering. A relatively large hotel and restaurant in the typical Austrian style. This review is as a hotel guest on half board. My single room was adequate but quite small and included a single bed, a table and arm chair, with storage space and a bathroom with a bath and shower over the bath.|The food was quite good but the evening meal, which was four courses had a choice of between only two main courses. The choice had to be made at breakfast.|Westendorf is quite small and, after having eaten the evening meal and with poor weather, there was little to do but sit in the bedroom. The hotel did have an area set aside with arm chairs. This it was not a separate room, but an area off the main passage and nobody used these to sit and relax.|The staff were friendly and helpful.|It experience was reminiscent of holidays taken in Austria in the 90's but peoples' expectations have...
