UPDATE 5.30.25 - Resort World responded to my review with a very thoughtful message. I emailed them per their instructions and never heard back. This place will say anything to save face and try to keep customers, but then when it's time to do what they said they would, they dip. Shameful.
This place is a nightmare. It ruined 2 days of our 3 day vacation.
We had our trip booked months in advance. The ferry takes you from Ft. Lauderdale almost right to the resort, but the ferry docks at 11 am and hotel check in is 4 pm. My husband called ahead twice to confirm we could get early check in, and also that room service is available. He was told yes to both things both times he called.
Getting off the ferry, through customs, and dropped at the hotel takes about 90 minutes. Then we were forced to stand in line to check into the hotel for another hour. When we finally got to the desk we were told our room wouldn't be ready until 3 pm - another 90 minute wait. Everyone ahead of us in the long line was given a room key. The woman at the front desk was incredibly rude. No empathy, no sign of hospitality. We decided to wait, even though there are absolutely no amenities, not even wifi, until you get a room number.
We ate lunch at Hemmingway's. We had conch fritters, a side salad, ribs, bread pudding, and two martinis. The food was mid at best. The bill was $154. I was shocked. A lunch costing more than $100 should be far better quality.
At 3 pm we waited in line at reception again and were told by the same rude woman check in was at 4 pm. I don't know why she didn't tell us that the first time. Our room was still not ready. We waited more, and at 4 pm stood in line for literally the 7th time that day - the 3rd time at this front desk. We were told by a different but equally rude woman that “housekeeping pushed back the time to 5” so our room still was not ready. We waited another 30 min and my husband finally had enough. He spoke to a supervisor - a.k.a. the concierge - who simply handed us a key to our room. I don't know what changed but we got no apology, no free drink at the bar, no compensation, no glimmer of kindness from the women who work there. But at least we finally had a room. My husband also asked at least three times if we were going to be given late check out on our departure because of all the trouble at check in, and was told each time he would have to ask again the morning we were set to leave.
There is no room service, by the way. So we still had to drag our weary selves back downstairs for exorbitantly-priced, low-quality food. There are two pools at the hotel and the music is unbearably loud. This place caters to drunk idiots. It is not luxurious or relaxing. If you want to rest and decompress, go somewhere else. If you want to get sunburned and trashed, this is your spot.
The water is clear and blue but the beaches are not clean. There is trash and broken glass everywhere. The “town” is run down and has little infrastructure and few local restaurants. I can't think of a good reason to go to the island of Bimini.
Our last night there, we had dinner at the Tides restaurant. We ordered 4 drinks, fries, salad, octopus, and sea bass. The sea bass was not fresh and rubbery. The rest of the food was again, mid at best. The bill was $287.
We had as many problems on our way out of this hell hole. They denied us late check out, deactivated our room key so we couldn't use the amenities, and would not let us stow our luggage at reception. We were forced to haul our stuff around the island for 4 hours waiting for the ferry.
Resort World clearly does everything in its power to force people to spend all their money at the resort - it treats customers like crap and traps them there with few options outside the property. Resort World could easily give back to the community by improving roads or even just picking up trash and it does nothing outside its own walls. I am disgusted with this place. I see why Hiton dropped this...
Read moreFirst off I was excited for this trip since I was celebrating my husband’s 70th birthday. We travel alot and had never stayed in Bimini. Arriving to the resort at around noon, staff seemed as if we were annoying them.. once at the front desk they stated that the room was not ready, 3pm still not ready and it won’t be ready till after 5pm. Leaving my suitcases at the front entrance left me uneasy as there were over 100 suitcases and folks were just opening them looking for clothing.. it was a mess. Walking around with your luggage was very very tiring..the food at Hemming… restaurant was disappointing as the staff seemed annoyed..by this time a whole day just merely waiting for my room was a waste of a vacation day! Once finally arriving to my room I was soooooo disappointed that it wasn’t ocean view.. spoke to front desk, they asked that I wait till the morning because they were still checking in first, next morning I went downstairs spoke to front desk and was told to wait till later in the day because housekeeping is still cleaning rooms.., this was ongoing till the day before I was leaving.. they finally said they don’t have one available.. The service was absolutely appalling. I was I n tears of how I saw how the service was different with special event guests and the regular guest were pretty much dismissed. There was another time that I asked the front desk what time does the tram come to pick up guest to go to Beach 360. They weren’t sure and guessed 11am. Then I went later and asked Concierge and they didn’t know.. I just told them it’s fine.. they don’t know? I was merely just so unsure about the place where I was.. I didn’t visit the outside except to go to the beach.. I’m so upset about this trip and the money spent. Everything was overpriced, food was not even good… and hidden charges.. why are we not informed about additional charges? I am fully aware of normal resort fees but I asked when I booked the trip..told this was all I had to pay..
This resort has tons of potential. The location is amazingly beautiful and the resort needs so much up-keeping. The staff really could use a customer service training class.. no serious..I am an advocate for great travel locations and share my experiences however I wish my experience was taken seriously and my experience would be turned around from my frown…
I would like the CEO to reach out to me. P
I would love to return however I would like to speak to someone about compensation of some sort…. Please forward with email or phone contact number so that we can...
Read moreWell we stopped her on our Carnival cruise and paid the extra excursion fee of $50 or so a person to use the resort. It was a good choice only because the beach by the port was super crowded and didn’t have the options we had at the resort. That being said. We had just come from a port day at Grand Turk. In grand Turk we had free chairs in the beach with a security guard and access to the resort pool with the swim up bar to Margaritaville. They did it right! Buy the up and get 50% off refills. Let me just say we drank ALOT! Fast forward to Bimini. Beautiful gorgeous beach and water! The chairs we paid for were lacking to say the least good thing we never sat. Most of the beach chairs had straps that were broken or stretched out so you could fall in. It was so over crowded with chairs I wish I had taken a picture to explain it wasn’t good for the amount of money they were charging. They also charged $72pp on the cruise to use this facility and then get a free lunch, the lunch was a burger and chips. The free drinks (came with 2) were watered down punch. We know because our friends paid the up charge for the meal. We decided to get drinks and the drinks were so ridiculously priced we didn’t get a second. +$40 just for two small sized drinks. The food was also $20 a plate for bar food. They missed the mark. If they weren’t so greedy they would be making way more. Our friends and other people we met also said the same didn’t even bother to get anything to drink. What a shame could have been the best day because the beach is...
