Very quaint, welcoming of children, and incredibly beautiful property. Staff is top notch and everyone from the fabulous front desk staff to the grounds keepers are helpful and quick with a smile. Bahamians seem to genuinely love children and our son got a lot of love during our stay. There are discussions on travel forums about the labor bureaucracy that enables a substandard service industry (making it impossible for management to fire bad employees, enforcing automatic gratuity which offers no incentive to provide excellent service, etc). We saw evidence of this at other establishments on the island, but that was not the case at compass point. Our service at compass point was on par with the best we've had at other resorts including those with better star ratings and much higher price tags.
Aside from superb service, the property is stunning. Situated right next to love Beach and with private access, you are spoiled with a vastly larger beach real estate than any Beach resort we've been to. And unlike those larger resorts, during our time in may we had the beach to ourselves. There literally were maybe one or two other people out on love Beach at a given time. Compass point has a small but clean pool and a 8 person hot tub that is open 24 hours. As far as facilities, there is a slightly overpriced restaurant, a modest gift shop with Sundries, a small Spa and a lovely dock extending out into the beautiful blue water. And that is about it for this 18-room resort.
So that brings me to the most important element of this Resort, it's size and vibe. Knowing the kind of trouble you are as critical to determining if this is the right lodging option for your family. If you are the kind of Travelers that are most interested in quiet, hands-off, European...
Read moreThe location is absolutely gorgeous. I chose this place over Atlantis and other kid friendly places because I wanted to stay closer to the ocean and away from the crowds. Also, I loved the colorful, quirky huts. The property looks beautiful just like in the pictures. The room was very cool in the July heat but we did have to keep the AC on. It had a rustic look and feel. There were some signs of slight disrepair like missing or torn bug screens. I had opted for an elevated hut but we didn't use the kitchenette because it was hot outdoors and one of my kids doesn't like flies. That was the other issue with the outdoor dining -- the ceiling fans were not very effective, especially when you have to wait 45 minutes for the food to arrive. The manager was really helpful and arranged with the chef for a special vegan menu for us. The food itself was terrific and almost worth the long wait! There are also some good restaurants within walking distance. We tried one of them and the wait was just as long but we were seated indoors in AC after showing our CDC vaccination cards. All in all, a very...
Read moreThis could be easily have been my third time there in as little as 4 weeks. And each time there was an issue. After placing reservations for a 15-20 persons when we arrived we had no table and table then tables had to be added as our party arrived. The wait on food was far to long more than an hour for some of us and when the food came some of it had to be returned to the kitchen..one order was completely forgotten about so the wait was another 20-25 minutes...the last time I was there 3 nights ago after being seated for 15 minutes a server finally arrived..took the drink order...brought menu...took the order right away and it took us about an hour to get 1 order of wings and 1 order of conch fritters (of which we couldn't eat). If you're looking for someplace with a nice view this is your spot. If you're looking for good food..this is not spot...fast service this is not the spot...the waiters are ok..but maybe they should consider especially on busy nights to hire more staff...it will be a long while before I go there again if...
