I recently visited OIA restaurant in the Goldwynn Hotel, Bahamas, with a friend who has a gluten allergy. Our experiences on two separate occasions were concerning and have prompted me to advise caution to those with serious food allergies.
During our first visit, my friend was mistakenly assured that a dish I ordered was gluten-free. Upon consuming it, we were hastily informed of the error. Although the staff provided immediate assistance with medication, the incident reflected a lack of thoroughness in handling dietary restrictions. The oversight was compounded by the fact that the item was initially included in our bill, requiring us to request its removal.
On a subsequent visit, despite explicit communication about the allergy, we encountered another issue. My friend ordered a lobster pasta dish, modified to be gluten-free, only to be told later that the dish could not be made without gluten due to preparation methods. As a result, they opted for a shrimp substitute. However, our bill reflected the full price of the original lobster dish, despite receiving a significantly different meal. The staff’s refusal to adjust the charge was disappointing and demonstrated a lack of consideration for the circumstances.
Based on these experiences, I would advise anyone with serious food allergies to be cautious when dining at OIA. The staff’s inconsistent handling of dietary restrictions and billing practices left us feeling disregarded as customers. For a restaurant located in a reputed establishment like the Goldwynn Hotel, such lapses are unexpected and unacceptable. We have decided not to patronize OIA for the remainder of our trip and hope that this feedback prompts an improvement in their service and attention to important...
Read moreI have to first start by telling you about their amazing security at their east gate that night. When we arrived at their controlled checkpoint, we told the gentleman working there, that we were going to Oia for dinner. He then came out of the both and directed us on where to park and how to find Oia without any difficulty. We can’t recall his name but he bit us farewell and told us to enjoy our stay in a very hospitable manner!
Upon arrival to Oia there was a hostess at the entrance waiting to assist us, she had a very warm and friendly personality. After seating us she presented us with our menu’s and a kids menu without us having to request it.
Our server Johnathon then came over to our table and introduced himself, speaking with confidence advising us on the menu and the taking our drinks orders. The food came out came out In stages which was fine.
The highlight of the night for me was the Ube cheesecake and the veggie roll.
We were celebrating a birthday that night,so we brought a cake. They don’t allow their staff to sing as a group for birthday, but Johnathon sure did sing along with us when we were singing!
The beverages were very nice and came out very fast, the lovely female bartender was very polite. They greeted us on our way in and as we were leaving.
To sum it all up, it’s a nice...
Read moreWould not recommend this restaurant. It is so completely overprized that i can‘t find words for it. The staff is not welcoming nor friendly. You‘re not gonna find a smile on their face. My sister and i ordered an appetizer to share and both a main course - or so we thought. Turns out she ordered a tiny but way overpriced appetizer and the waitress didn‘t even bother to say anything while ordering it (that it is an appetizer aswell.) She brought them at the same time and i ate my main course way later and alone. We had to wait a long time for everything. We asked if we could have two Bellinis (they only serve them while brunch normally) and she said yes, but with the most annoyed look on her face. What she brought were not bellinis, they were proseccos with the faintest peach taste ever. The chicken karaage was tiny and the 5 slices of small potatos i ordered were over 15$. We also shared s mousse au chocolat which was really really not good. I don‘t know how you can mess this up but it didn‘t even taste like chocolate, like at all.
I don‘t mind paying a lot of money for good food but the food was below average, and we were still hungry after those tiny portions, and the service was also bad
For this we paid 270$ which is...
