Well, the hotel is in GREAT location and has a GREAT variety of clubs for all your liking if you are staying here. The is a wonderful little market across the street if you would like snacks and such for the room. The market also sells cigarettes, so if you run out of cigarettes you can get them at a decent price not too far away. There is also an ATM inside the market. The market has anything from prepared salads and such to lunchmeat and bread so you don't have to spend the extra money on going out to eat. There is a Starbucks and wonderful Thai restaurant across the street as well. Now......as for the actual hotel room and stay......it was less than sub pat for sure. The mattresses in our room were wore out. The were in the shape of a U. I could feel the spring poking me in the back all night. Secondly, I also test the internet upon arrival because I work remotely over the internet and the fastest speed I could get on their WIF in the room was 530kbps. So if internet is a must for you, I would recommend staying somewhere else for sure. However, they do have a great bar and grill that let's you use their WIFI on the ground floor. It is called the yardhouse. It has great internet speed of around 50mbps. I was able to use their internet and complete my remote work there. Next, the lighting in the room was very dark and not well placed. Ice to the room is 1BHD per order. I never had an issue with customer service here though. Everytime I called for something they helped me out and in a decent time. I have included a picture of the mattress that is U shaped so you can tell. Also, both mattresses where this way, so it wasn't just the one. Just a note the room number I stayed in was 1510. I booked the room through Agoda and when I checked in, the front desk lady said....."Oh, I see you booked through Agoda, let me see if that room is available," at that time she called to see if it were ready. Felt as though this sent the message that since I booked through Agoda, I was automatically going to get a sub par room. Upon check in at several hotels in Bahrain, they usually give you something complementary, not this hotel. I took a picture of the card that was in the room because it stated that all bed linens would be changed upon the second night stay. This did not happen. They just made the bed all 3 nights. I was fine with this, but if you state that you are going to do something as a business, you need to follow through on...
Read moreThis was my worst hotel experience. We paid for a suite and got the shoddiest place - spacious but grimy and I don’t think they ever cleaned the floors or washed the sheets while we were there (despite us calling for room service). There was a mini fridge but nothing to warm up your food. The clubs are loud and will keep you up all night, which makes it hard to find the energy to enjoy the city during the day or wake up for the free breakfast. We had ONE SHEET - no mattress cover, just a thin sheet between us and the filthy mattress every other guest has slept on - so I got a rash on my back the very first night. We asked for an extra towel (to dry my hair) and were told we were NOT ALLOWED MORE THAN ONE TOWEL PER GUEST. The towels themselves were horrible, rough to touch and fraying. My partner and I got sick at the end of the stay and I am suspicious if the hotel timely changes the a/c filter. Also, the air vent in the bathroom is covered with a plastic film - so mold was likely growing there as well. We also had issues with the a/c properly cooling the room. It did not work for the first few days. Speaking of the dirty bathroom, there were stains on the walls, our toilet seat cover was broken, and the toilet would not flush all the way. In the bedroom, the window was haphazardly nailed down so it couldn’t close all the way and when the clubs finally quieted down the sound of the wind and dust howling in the crack would keep us up. The furniture was also very dated and did not appear clean. The service was ok, but not the best. For example, they generously gave us a christmas gift - a slice of cake, but there was a dead gnat in the box - so it wasn’t the most appetizing. We were on a non-smoking floor but the hallways were rank with the smell of cigarettes and shish-a. Because of the crowd going up and down the elevators I did not feel safe going out without my partner. I got hit on by drunk men twice in one outing around 9 PM, and decided not to go out by myself anymore after that. We wanted to save money coming here and instead we sacrificed our vacation. Only come here if you plan to go to the clubs all night and don’t care whether or not your...
Read moreOn arrival in the early hours of Friday we were kindly "upgraded" to a Pearl Suite. Before getting to our suite we had to endure the revelers lift hopping between floors. Inside the lift once you request your floor if the button is pressed again this cancels the request. This was done twice to us on purpose so they could get to the floor they wanted quicker.
The sitting / dining room is huge! As is the bedroom and bathroom. In this suite we encountered a number of problems. 1, the sink plug in the small WC off the living room was jammed, there was water in it, even if I'd wanted to use it there was no soap or towel. 2, one of the 3 wardrobe doors was jammed so couldn't be opened 3, the shower doors didn't close together leaving a 5cm gap. 4, there was a remote control in the bathroom as there were no instructions we tried to work out what it was for, we quickly learned it was for the shower as it started to leak from underneath. 5 the dimmer switch didn't work. After the fiasco getting to our room, we decided to advise reception of the problems in the morning This room faces a building which seems quite close, so curtains need to be drawn for privacy.
Speaking to Rose the next morning she took our maintenance list and offered to show us the standard of suite we had paid for. The room on the 15th floor was a lot smaller but had a great view of the sea. We decided to change to this suite. We were very happy until around 9.30pm when the thud thud thud of the music started, the vibrations got worse after midnight until 2am when whichever bar/nightclub stops. We thought this was a "weekend thing" No it's EVERY night.
Pro's the location is ok, the staff (especially Rose) are VERY friendly and accommodating.
Con's the vibration noise from the bar/nightclub plus their clientele. The rooms could do with being updated The beds are very firm No dedicated guest lift especially at...
