Worst stay ever in my life .
I am writing to express my extreme dissatisfaction with my recent stay at Gulden Tulip Hotel in Bahrain, from February 15th to February 17th, 2024. My experience was marred by numerous disappointments and lapses in service that are simply unacceptable for a hotel of any standard, let alone one claiming to be four stars.
Firstly, I must address the issue of cancellation. Despite my attempts to cancel my booking within a mere 3-5 hours of making it, due to unforeseen circumstances with my airline, the hotel management, particularly Gunnaka, refused to accommodate my request. Despite being informed by Gunnaka that it was possible to cancel within 24 hours, the manager persistently refused, demonstrating a complete lack of empathy and professionalism.
Upon arrival, the promised transportation was nowhere to be found, causing unnecessary inconvenience and delay. This lack of organization and communication is inexcusable.
Furthermore, despite booking a non-smoking room, I was allocated room 207, which reeked of smoke and was disgustingly unclean. The state of the room, including the dirty carpet and curtains, was appalling, making it impossible to enjoy my stay.
Despite requesting a room refresh to eliminate the persistent smoke smell, no action was taken, further exacerbating my discomfort and sleeplessness due to nearby noise disturbances.
The bed provided was uncomfortable and seemingly incapable of providing a restful night's sleep. The substandard quality of the bedding is simply unacceptable for a hotel claiming to offer any level of comfort.
The dining experience was equally disappointing. The buffet offered a limited selection of unappetizing dishes, which left me feeling unwell, with one of the worst meals I have ever experienced. To add insult to injury, I was shocked to discover that even a basic amenity like coffee was not included and had to be paid for separately.
The breakfast offered no improvement, with the same lackluster selection of food and the audacity to charge for coffee. This lack of basic hospitality is unacceptable for any establishment, let alone one claiming to be four stars.
Finally, the response from hotel staff to my complaints was woefully inadequate. Instead of addressing my concerns with sincerity and professionalism, I was met with rudeness and indifference from both the receptionist and the manager. This level of customer service is utterly reprehensible and has led me to cancel my membership with this property indefinitely.
In conclusion, my experience at Gulden Tulip Hotel was nothing short of a nightmare. From the appalling room conditions to the abysmal dining experience and the complete lack of customer service, I am utterly dismayed and will never consider staying at this hotel again. I strongly urge the management to address these issues promptly to avoid further dissatisfied guests...
Read moreI don’t know why this hotel is given Five Stars. I would give it 3. We had our wedding done here and they gave us a package for the ceremony which had a number of perkies for the bride and groom which included: a one night stay in the honeymoon suite upgraded to “Al-Amry” Suite which means Royal Suite massage for groom and bride after the wedding. 15% discount on spa services Breakfast in bed for Bride and Groom Dinner for Bride and Groom Heart shaped cake for Bride and Groom
And also the meal options for the guests of the wedding and the venue decoration. Also the wedding cake.
So on the day of the wedding, the venue was outside the hotel in a tent that they usually utilise for Ramadan iftaar. The tent’s entrance was from outside, the inside of the text was carpeted. There was no powder room nearby for the bridal party or just the bride to get dressed from and enter. There is only ONE ENTRANCE for the tent so having a Muslim male and female segregated wedding is very awkward. The cake they provided for the wedding was three tier but the bottom and top tier was STYROFOAM covered in icing which was the most embarrassing moment trying to cut the cake from the bottom and the knife not slicing through, don’t even get me started on the quality of the icing and the cake itself (I wouldn’t even give it 1 star). The food options for the buffet is very limited, nothing exciting or special.
After the wedding the room they provided for us was nothing special. They said it was the Royal Suite but it was small and did not have anything Royal about it.
The breakfast was horrible. The dinner was just the wedding buffet food.
There was no massage and no spa treatment.
Lack of room amenities, we had drank the water bottles provided in the room and they charged for more water. Just two small bottles were given for two adults staying in that room for a night; ridiculous.
Room towels were over washed and rough.
We felt cheated for our money. They OVER PROMISED AND UNDER DELIVERED.
Do NOT book this place for your wedding.
If I want to rate their rooms, I would say we stayed in the “Royal Suite” (or so we were told) and it would define the top of the range for their rooms and it was sadly very very below average, especially for a...
Read moreThis hotel built in the mid 1970's is quite old but still offer very good facilities. It's the type of hotel that caters for tourists looking for quality comfort on a budget, and is conveniently located on the outskirts of Manama old town.
Taxi from Bahrain International Airport will cost around 3 BD, however, for much less, you can also catch the local transport bus No. A2 which stops nearby.
The main restaurant serves a very good buffet in the evening for 8.5BD. Breakfast includes a selection of fresh fruit, pastries, hot and cold plates, an omelette station. Jain food also available, all until 10.30am each day.
Kei, a japanese sushi and teppanyaki restaurant is another restaurant located in the hotel, however it did not appear to be busy and popular during the time we were there.
The Cavalry Lounge Sports Bar is located in the lobby on the ground floor. A themed British pub, it is complete with two electronic dartboards, and happy hour everyday on selected drinks is served up until 7pm. Food is served until 2am.
The outdoor pool is heated and super warm with about dozen or so comfortable sunbeds. The Keep Fit Gym and Spa has all you need. Facilities comprises of a sauna, steam room, hot and cold plunge pool. Thai massage service also available.
In addition, the Opera Lounge, a cabaret nightclub with belly dancers is attached towards the rear of the hotel. Opening hours daily 21.00hrs to 02.00hrs.
Our twin room on the 3rd floor looks to have been partly refurbished, air conditioned, equipped with fridge, bottle water replenishment daily, flat screen TV, in room safe and slippers. Bathroom still looks dated but is functional. We found the small single beds comfortable.
Overall, we found the management, reception, housekeeping, bar and restaurant staff very friendly and accommodating.
We all had a fabulous time here. The icing on the cake was the set up to show the FIFA World Cup on a large TV screen by the pool.
It appears the poor reviews recently posted for this hotel centres around the quality of the rooms. Maybe there are still some rooms that require refurbishment.
The Avenues and the high end Moda shopping malls are within...
