Stayed one night in the suite on the top floor. |Good: perfect location in the pedestrian part of town; interesting interior with old city photos and reproductions of Chagall paintings on the walls, vintage pieces of furniture, and household items from last century. |Bad: no lift and steep stairs make all but impossible to haul heavy luggage up; had to unplug the room's electrical appliances and use my own extension cord to charge laptop and phone as no spare sockets were available in the rooms; small and dimly lit bathroom, cheap coarse toilet paper, and a tiny cheap shower cubicle with a partially blocked drain; two old style short single beds with foot boards put together instead of a proper double bed; no tea making set; no international channels on the TV; some noise still coming through closed windows from the traffic on the main street at night.|A very poor value for...
Read moreGood hotel of very good location. Big grocery store nearby, forest track by the river to walk, very nice church nearby. Staff is very friendly, we arrived without no reservation and we received fluent English service from the receptionist. For this price, we received more than we expected. It wasn't a typical hotel room but more like an apartment with big bedroom and a living room with big corner sofa and a TV. Even essential tableware and a big fridge and free bottled water in the room. Bedroom had even a make-up mirror and chair. And living room had a study desk and chair. Rooms were very clean and cozy, and also had AC machine to adjust temperature to your liking. Hotel offers breakfast (which we did not have) and has a nice bar offering barista coffee and various alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Very good hotel experience, can...
Read moreHotel Eridan despite being over 60 years old is clean and well maintained. The staff were all friendly and 2/3rds I met spoke some English. Which is good because my Russian isn't the best! It has the best location being in the old city part. ||I had a very basic room that only costs about $50 U.S.D. per night. || The food from the onsite restaurant is very tasty and inexpensive. A 1 liter local beer from the bar is only about $1.50 U.S.D.|| A billion dollar casino-hotel it isn't. But unless one is the proverbial room snob it offers a cozy stay, friendly staff, tasty meals and cheap beer.||I felt safer walking the streets alone then just about anywhere, the local police "militsa" are everywhere. Don't hesitate to visit Vitebsk, the people are friendlier then they...
