Last (long) weekend my wife and I made the choice to go (back) to the Belgian Ardennes and explore the area of Celles. The village itself is very well conserved from old times and even so the hotel in front of the Roman-style church. We therefore booked the last room available and drove to our destiny. Once arrived we were welcomed by the hostess who was very friendly and helpfull. With the key of our room, called "Amour" we opened the door and were positively surprised by the cosy, quiet and very clean room and bathroom.||We left our luggage in the room and started exploring the very nice neighbourhood, the church(es), Castle Veves (2 km away from the hotel) and some villages nearby. In the evening we very much enjoyed our dinner in the restaurant associated to the hotel, which turned out to be very affordable too.||After a well deserved good night sleep (the beds were terrific), we were awakened by some sheep in the backyard, which was a pleasant good morning welcome. We too very well enjoyed our great breakfast, served by another very friendly employee from the hotel. We did checkout and went first to the nearby bakery before leaving for further destinations. All in all a very nice experience, our stay at this smal and cosy hotel Le...
Read moreJust a pity about weak coffee! This is not a hotel! There is no reception & we were locked out on arrival. After some 20 minutes of ringing a bell, we decided to look at our email: to find an access code, in a subsequent email. There was also a note asking us to ring a particular number to let them know if we wanted a breakfast we had prepaid for! Fine they may well benefit from a particular time! Not being able to ring on a UK Moby we went to a nearby restaurant : apparently owned by the same company, to inform them. Spent the night anxious about having to pay for breakfast again / confrontation! All was sorted when we offered to pay for our dog (10€). That said, everything else was fine. Comfy bed and very clean environment. (Stairs up 2 floors are narrow: so beware!) Breakfast was good though the coffee was weak & thus we contented ourselves with what was offered. Its a very attractive property and has much to...
Read moreIn the little village of Celles, Belgium is a gem of a hotel, Le Saint Hadelin. Everything from the narrow cobblestone lane to the rustic furnishing of this jewel of a hotel makes it a charming place to stay. The room was nicely furnished with a very comfortable bed. The beakfasts were delicious and the staff very attentive. We were very late in arriving at the hotel (read very, very early in the morning) so the staff gave us the combination to the front door and placed our room key on an entry table. We found the hotel to be a great place from which to visit Dinant, Namur, and the local Maredsous Abbey. We really enjoyed our stay and would stay there again in the future should we find ourselves planning a visit...
