I wasn't looking for a big hotel and hotel prices as I don't spend much time in my room while traveling. Blue Horizon Guest House was the best solution I could find (later learned that most of the "Guest Houses" are located, like Blue Horizon in Warwick Parish). Place looks very appealing and owner is very nice. Blue Horizon is conveniently located near a gas station that has a good selection of food, snacks and other items -- also very convenient for buses.||||On an aside, bus system in Bermuda definitely needs improvement. I was told that Bermuda bought 40 buses from Germany some time ago and now they are breaking down and have no one who can repair them. The island is expecting 4 new buses to arrive in the next couple of weeks. That won't solve the problem of over-crowded buses, buses frequently running late and overworked bus drivers who are tired and not very pleasant to deal with (the majority are very nice). The ferries are great.||||My room at Blue Horizon was on the side, allowing limited wifi -- often had to go sit out front to get adequate wifi signal. Bermuda itself is in desperate need of more free wifi hotspots throughout the island, as the lack of it is a negative. The room had a window a/c which I only used at night for sleeping. The windows in the small kitchen and very small bathroom (it was difficult to use the tub/shower as the bottom structure was rather high and there were two steps leading up to the top and then you had to step down into the floor of the shower -- as I've two knee replacements, this was quite awkward for me and no picture of the bathroom was shown in pictures of the Guest House. Additionally, the kitchen windows had screens, but not windows you could close, so there was a kind of door that you pulled across the entrance. The bathroom had a hard door you could shut, but both the kitchen and bathroom solutions were not the best. There was little room to move around the bed. This set-up works for one person, but would be miserable for two or more. This room is definitely not for handicapped people or those with disabilities. The owner (Brenda, whose father built the house and the one behind it) does a great job of making things look nice, but it's all still somewhat of a work in process. ||||Brenda is very helpful with questions on the island and arranged for my shuttle to come to the back of the Guest House so I didn't have to drag my luggage down the front stairs.||||What I liked best? easy access to the owner and her flexibility in meeting my needs (i.e. no hair dryer in room, so I borrowed one she had); also convenience to bus stops.||||What i liked least? -- the lack of consistent wifi and the arrangement of the room -- I cannot envision more than one person...

Read moreWhen we arrived, Brenda the owner showed us around the property. Much to our dismay, the pool was empty of water! Brenda was unsure when it would be fixed. Her reply to my questions was "Things happen". We were not notified by Brenda nor the bookit company that the pool was closed before our arrival.|Brenda promised to look into using a pool close by. I asked each morning if this had been done, she said that she would do it 'today'. It didn't happen while we were there. |Our room was small, musty and not clean. The AC only cooled the main room where we slept, not the bathroom nor kitchenette. Our room was never serviced nor the linens freshened the entire time we were there.|The pictures show a beauty shop and small store on the grounds, they were boarded up.|The facility is located in a residential area. Everytime we went anywhere, it was a large bill for transportation, $75 or $100. You cannot rent a vehicle to hold 3 people in Bermuda.|The 'grocery store' is a mini-mart attached to a gas station. You can buy beverages and snacks. We ate delivery pizza, sigh...|The beach 'steps away', is a long hike down the main road, with heavy traffic. Brenda has no chairs, umbrella, towels, etc. to loan to you. There is no view of the ocean from the property.|If I could give a rating of -10 (minus ten), I would do so. I asked for a refund and received a partial refund, for which I am thankful.|Finally, after the 3rd night, we left and checked into the Sandpiper, just down the road. The grounds and service there was excellent. We enjoyed the rest of our stay at...
