We stayed here over Christmas and had a lovely stay. Service was excellent - staff very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was very good - fresh fruit, cheese and cold cuts, bread and pastries, juice, coffee, and rotating bread/cake options. Since we stayed 5 nights - very much appreciated the rotating selections to augment a good continental breakfast base. Good size pool for the island - great for afternoon dips - and there is a large palm that casts some shade in the afternoon in part of the pool. Our room was basic - and in line with what you might expect on the island. It met our needs. They do have two ocean facing rooms that had we booked earlier, I would have loved to try - with small balconies. The property is right on the beach - and there's a roped off swimming area. There are four restaurants right next door. It's a short (10 minute) walk along the beach into the town where the bulk of the restaurants and shops are. The lobby area has a cooler for drinks for purchase and the prices are very reasonable - at or just slightly more than grocery store prices. It made more sense for us to buy water or beer at the property than to haul it. There is a bag service from the pier (i.e. person with a pushcart on wheels) that I would highly recommend. Save your bags and your back - we didn't know about it there and had the front desk call and get us one for the return trip...
Read moreAfter visiting this pousada in the last year and enjoying it, it was a complete difference this year. The staff is unfriendly. Asking for a new towel, they simply say No. The Manager of the Hotel is looking at her Facebook Page whilst talking to me, not even looking at me. The rooms need a renovation. Air-condition is not working sometimes and is in general much to loud. If you have one of the rooms in the back, you think that a truck is driving beside your window from all the noise of the air-condition of the other rooms. The breakfast is simple. They don't even try to make it nice. Cheese comes in Tupperware. The organization of the hotel is very bad. The manager does not know at the end of the month, if they have rooms for the next month, because they don't get the information from the owner, who lives in São Paulo. I have more and more the impression that tourism on the island is just for making fast money, not caring for the...
Read moreTo describe these rooms as rustic, would be an understatement. The beds look as if they had been handmade by an unskilled amateur. The linen was a bit too small for the beds and came off each night. The rooms smelled musty and dank. The woman who put out the breakfast was surly. Breakfast was ok, but not great. The little fridge and aircon were noisy. The shower had 3 pre-set temperatures only. There were no cupboards in the rooms, just a small opening above the bar fridge with a few hangers. The room was so small, that I had to put my suitcase on the other bed. The only good thing about the hotel was it's location, right on the beach, near nice...
