A very rustic hotel located less than a minute from the pier, water taxis, and the two main streets for shopping, booking tours and dining. Having visited Buzios multiple times, this was the first property where I was close enough to the key points of interest that I really did not need a car unless visiting the beaches on the opposite side of the peninsula.||||The room was spacious, had a view of the sea and excellent air conditioning. There was a comfortable queen-sized bed in the bedroom and two single sofa beds in the living room, each with both foam and down pillows. Other amenities included a flat screen TV, ceiling fan, a small refrigerator stocked with water, soda and beer for purchase, and a nook with a desk for working. The bathroom has an exceptionally large shower and good water pressure. The Wi-Fi worked fine for both cell phone and computer in most areas of the room.||||The roughhewn beams combined with this being an older structure provided the rustic look. Some items are worn, outdated or in need of repair, but overall, the room was quite comfortable. I found the décor and ambience pleasant, but if you are expecting a modern five-star hotel, you would be let down. If arriving from North America, be sure to carry several USA to Brazil/Europe plug adapters for your power cables.||||Starting as you pass through the gates at the entrance of the property you enter what is literally a garden of lush tropical plants. Picturesque cut stone steps lead up through the gardens to the reception area. Since the hotel is built on the side of a hill, there are quite a few steps to climb from street level up to the highest room locations. Limited mobility persons should be aware that there are no elevators and the ability to climb stairs is a must. The hotel staff were all very pleasant, professional, multilingual (at least English, Spanish, & Portuguese), and will help getting your luggage to and from your room. Welcome drink coupons were provided at check-in.||||Breakfast was included in the room price and was very enjoyable. Due to COVID, the hotel has implemented an early (7:30-9:00)) and late seating (9:00-10:30) to avoid crowding. Never were more than four tables occupied during our stay. I found nothing lacking as they brought to our table coffee, a variety of juices, fresh tropical fruits, different types of breads, eggs, pancakes, tapioca, ham, cheeses, pate, granola, yogurt, and condiments. All served at the tables located on a large second floor balcony. As you eat breakfast, all your senses are sated with the peaceful garden surroundings, views of the sea, a wonderful breeze, and pleasant background music. Each morning I was sorry to see breakfast come to an end. ||||Finally, due to the location being near the shopping, restaurants and bars, at night you will hear music coming from some of the nearby restaurants and bars. It wasn't very loud, and I was able to sleep with no problem, but if you are a light sleeper or need complete silence to sleep I recommend...
Read moreTHE ROOM||Although we didn't had any reservation we still got a very nice room with seaview. It was really spacious, in addition to the sleeping area which was separated by a wood truss there was a living room area with a small kitchen and a large white leather sofa. The room featured a view of the ocean, directed towards sunset. The bathroom was big too, with a two-person-shower.||||THE HOTEL||The resort is perfectly located: it's right at the beginning of the centre where the market and all the bars and restaurants are. Regardless it is still very quiet and features seaview rooms. For us the location was ideal since we could walk everywhere. The design is gorgeous, the path to our room took uf trough a leafy exotic garden which was well maintained. It's not a huge resort but that makes it even more familiar. They have a outdoor pool but it is very small. Breakfast was very good, we could eat right at the poolside which was very nice. Staff wasn't noticeable friendly but ok.||||OUR RECOMMENDATION||We really loved our stay in Buzios. The streets were empty during the day (which irritated a lot when we arrived), and also the beaches weren't crowded since tourists spread over the many beaches around Buzios. However the streets come to life all the more at night. This resort was located perfectly for our needs (beach during the day, strolling through the alley in...
Read moreI hate to write a bad review, but in the case I feel it is necessary. ||||I stayed at Vila Do Mar for my honeymoon last year and the staff really ruined our stay there. The hotel itself is nice and well decorated. The location is great as well, right downtown and within walking distance to many great restaurants. ||||Anyway, the unfortunate part began when they didn't have our reservation, after multiple attempts to pay online and email to confirm it... from there we were put in a room where the A/C unit was leaking and dripping on to the corner of the bed. We got an upgrade in rooms to switch to an 'ocean view' room (great room), but there our camera and cell phone went missing from the room. After checking all possibilities we brought it up with the management and they basically told us to look more, that we had lost it ourselves- which was impossible, as they hadn't left the room. ||From there things were a bit uncomfortable, the management just stopped talking with us instead of working out the issues. They had no interest in our satisfaction. ||||It was very unfortunate, because the hotel has so much potential. ||I have to say that I can not recommend...
