This is a place with so much potential but sadly let down by a management team that really do not take care of the details, or their guests. It has a lovely view of the beach from high up, a pretty main house and really nice pool area. but the pool area is left dirty, with plastic bags, cups and food left by cleaners who come and go irregularly but do not do their job properly. The pool beds are left out overnight so get dirty and the pool was not cleaned daily, so we had to clean out the flies and leaves ourselves to swim in it.||There was no minibar in the room (as stated on their info), not even any water left in the room for us on our first night so we had to go and find some after we first arrived. There is no security on the door and anyone can walk in or out so no particularly safe. ||Worst of all, our room was not cleaned at all for the 4 nights we stayed, so we had the same towels, bed unmade, bin overflowing and dirty floor. We even asked on day three of they could clean and left a message at reception, which then got ignored. When we left we realised that one of the drawers has an empty condom packet it in from a previous guest!! Eeeew!!||The place feels like it has new owners recently, as previous reviews were mostly positive and tell a very different story to the one we had (but mostly from 4+ years ago). It seemed to us that it it has lost its customer focus completely, the manager was friendly enough but infective (though he did empty our toilet bin on the third evening for us when we complained!) There is a bar on site that rarely ever opens and a pretty deserted feel to the place. There is supposedly a restaurant on site but nobody ever mentioned it and it did not seem open. we did not fancy finding out if standards were as low there too!||The breakfast is ok but nothing to shout home about. ||The price was high for our room, which was ok (though not great) but did have a nice patio area to relax in, which we enjoyed. But the price is much too high for a place with such low customer service and as this was our honeymoon we thought we had paid to stay at a really top quality place, but were really disappointed on that front.||Overall, loads of potential to be a really lovely place, if you brought in a management team who really cared about the experience...
Read moreFirst time in Brasil, first stop was in Casarao Alto Mucuge.||The place is gorgeous, literally, on a cliff overlooking the beach and the Atlantic.||Quarters are EXCELLENT value for money: location, sights, winds through the palm-trees.||Breakfast is best I ever had in my life, assortment of fresh fruit and local specialties, served in a stateroom overlooking the sea. The best way to start a day.||Not to mention service and guest care: Mr. Gustavo is a bright example in these areas. Always helpful in solving any problem a foreigner might have, be it renting a two-wheeler, making a brazilian mobile work over an international call, fix glitches with credit-card payments.||In one word: outstanding||The estate is located just outside of Arraial d'Ajuda, so it's definitely quiet. Arraial, IMO is a little overexploited turistically but it's definitely nice.||On the other hand, nearby Porto Seguro is a lively and enjoyable small town, some 5 Km and a 5 min ferry trip across the mouth of the river. The ferry ride is just great for the scenery and the...
Read moreThe staff here was wonderful especially Gustavo and Deja. The setting is beautiful. There is a hot tub on the edge of the cliff that is wonderful. The rooms are a bit rustic, but very comfortable - airco, TV, mosquito nets on the bed etc. The common area has a large eating room, living room and kitchen that guests can use. Breakfast was very good. You feel like you are miles away from civilization, but, in reality, you are just far from the crowds of Ajuda. If you are fit, it is a bit of a hike to town or the main beach. If not, then you probably will want to have a car. I loved this place and will...
