Pousada do Outeiro — Hotel in Região Geográfica Imediata de Eunápolis - Porto Seguro

Circuito Vulgar||My girlfriend and I spent 5 days at Pousada do Outeiro between 29/12 and 3/1 2024. The experience was underwhelming (diplomatically speaking), mostly due, as always, to an involved and blasé hotel manager. ||Pousada do Outeiro belongs to the Circuito Elegante group of hotels & restaurants in Brazil. I know the group, having stayed with my son at Belmond Cataratas Foz do Iguaçu in August 2023, Fasano São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro with my girlfriend before. ||Here’s what is good at Pousada do Outeiro:|- Fantastic pool|- Friendly and helpful staff (thank you, Emily). ||Here’s why we not go there again or recommend, unless they change management (because bad and arrogant management is the root cause):|- Food is cantine style and really the total opposite of what is announced on the website. Seriously. The black rice pulpo is ok but very far from the mythical “experiência única de sabores da região”. If that is supposed to be the standard, the cooking of Bahia lacks love and soul. We know the contrary is true.|- Management is uninvolved and blasé. Bruno, the top guy, spends his time parading around and being looked at instead of taking care of his guests like a committed hotel manager does. When, for 3 days in a row, the AC broke in our room & hot water became unavailable, my GF raised the issue repeatedly with the hotel manager. Bruno, lacking class & dedication, told her to be more generous in allowing things like this to happen and stop complaining because this time of the year puts a strain on the resources of Pousada do Outeiro. That is an insult and unacceptable. Most importantly, after receiving complaints, Bruno put up an offended prima donna aura and stopped communicating with, even only acknowledging my GF. Since the place has only 16 rooms, there’s no place to hide from the punishing ignorance of the hotel manager.|- No attention to detail. The roman style clay water urn in the corner of the restaurant was empty and used glasses unattended for an entire day. In a region as hot as Porto Seguro in early January, this makes you think twice whether you would want to drink water offered by the hotel.||Circuito Elegante hotels come with a price tag. Quality has a cost. Happy to pay. But I want to have my expectations trampled on, especially for a romantic experience at the end of a challenging 2023 because hotel management neither has the decency nor the skills to run a place like the marvel it is supposed to be.||In all transparency, I copied this text and sent it to Hotel Cataratas. This situation deserves group...

Overall, we had nice stay mainly driven by location, food quality and friendly service.||||Location: great location on a cliff overlooking the Praia do Espelho. Pousada is located over 1 hr drive from Porto Seguro airport, half of the journey on unpaved road. If you want some mobility, you are better off renting a car to there||||Rooms: nicely decorated though very rustic. Bathrooms have partially open roof allowing for some natural air and light to come in. We had a 2 rooms with terrace with sea view though we didn't use them due to bad weather||||Condominio: Though the Pousada is set within a large condominium, and the pousada guests can use the condominio's facilities, this is not an easy task. It takes over 20 min to get to the Club House and over 30 min walk to the polo course. So, not very convenient specially for people with disabilities or walking problems||||Accesibility: as the Pousada is set on a cliff, you need to go down to the beach, which takes at least 15 min walk down (ca 40 mts down). Nice walk though not for people with walking problems. To go anywhere else, you need a car.||||Connectivity: if you have a Blackberry, forget about using it during your stay. There is not signal for BBerry at the Pousada (yes though for some mobile phones). The only place I could get a faint signal was at the edge of the cliff, ca 200mts from the main pousada building||||Food: breakfast was excellent in terms of variety and quality. Same for dinner||||Service: Given we were few guests at the pousada, service was very personalized and attentive. A highlight of our staying at the Pousada do Outeiro. Very nice and friendly people||||All in all, we would go back but with a car and in high season given that if you have bad weather, there is very little to do and you might experience electricity outages as we did...

We chose the pousada based on the positive comments we got. It was supposed to be a dream vacation.||We were extremely disappointed to find the pousada doens't have a generator strong enough to support the rooms. Therefore, to our dispair, we couldn't sleep for 3 nights due to the collapse of the air conditioning. We decided to come back earlier and they refused to refund us.||All the guests were furious and the manager, who is very nice, just repeated she couldn't do anything about it...||it is true that the electricity fails in Espelho, but the other Pousadas bought generators big enough to deal with the problem.||On top of it, they infomed us the golf course was ready and in soft opening. This is far of being true...No one can play with a grass like that! and on top of it no Internet connection, no phones...niente, nada, nothing!||I suggest the owners invest where they make...
