Pousada Marujo — Hotel in Região Geográfica Imediata de Florianópolis

We loved our stay here. From start to finish everything was great. Ida is an amazing woman - very warm, genuine and friendly. She picked us up from the bus station, which was meant to get in at 5am but we were three hours late, so we thought when we arrived she may not be there (and who could blame her if she wasn't) - but no she was waiting there, smiling and said she was just worried about us that we hadn't arrived yet.||||Our drive to the Pousada was nice as she provided us with a great little commentary about the area, with lots of good tips for where to go, and not to go. Our room was excellent - extremely comfortable bed, lovely and clean (actually everything was super clean) and lots of room - we liked the kitchenette / lounge area, and my husband loved the hammock outside our room.||||The guesthouse is reasonably close to the beach at Barra Da Lagoa, and was a nice walk everyday. And the burger bar on the corner of the street is great - OMG so big, over flowing with chicken and very reasonably priced. Another great recommendation from Ida, and her sons.||||We were meant to get the local bus from Barra Da Lagoa to Florianapolis, and we waited patiently at the bus stop for 30 mins, but no show. So my husband ran back to Ida's to see if she could check the bus timetable - but in the meantime the bus had shown up, yet I couldn't get him to wait for us until he got back, so he moved on. Next thing, Ida and my husband arrive at the bus stop in her car and she was going to drive us as far as she could so we could catch up with the bus.||||Only problem - the traffic - it was bumper to bumper, and we were coming close to missing our long distance bus. Ida was amazing, she didn't let the traffic stop her - she was like a woman possessed, over taking cars, honking her horn, driving on the other side of the road so we could catch up with the bus .... We were all laughing hysterically. We did manage to catch up with the bus, after much abuse from the other drivers and we safely made it to the long distance bus station ||- but only with the help of our wonderful host.||||If you are going to stay at Barra Da Lagoa, you must stay here. Excellent value for money and by far THE nicest host we have come across in our nine...

I arrived earlier than normal book in time, but that was not a problem for Ida, the ownerful landlady here. Have a coffee while we sort it out. Another guest had asked to extend their stay (in the room allocated to me), so woud i mind one of the larger family rooms for a couple of days? What great service. Then, once nicely settled in, Ida checked all was OK, explained where breakfast was, and her family explained where the bus stops and shops etc all were. I moved to my correct room a couple of days later, basic but everything I needed. Nice bed, fridge, storage space, view of the pool and tropical flora from the front door. I hadn't pre-booked breaksfast, but after the first morning, I chose to have it every day (only £3). Each item served freshly prepared, including endless coffee. No fly swarmed buffet arrangements here, nothing on your table till you were ready for it. ||Unfortunately, on one day, the cleaner missed my room, not a major problem, but needed fresh towels- Ida was horrified it had been missed, and at 8pm offered to clean it herslelf. Ida understands customer service (sadly, still something that has to catch on more in Brazil), and clearly this little ommision was terriible to her. She apologied again as I came to check out.||As it was carneval, the traffic jams from this part of the island can be hell on earth- but this pousada is in walking ditstance of several great beaches, and enough convience stores and cafe/restaurants to mean thats not a major issue,. Just be careful if you have flight connections, and bear this in mind. Ida even arranged a friend to run me, and some other guests to the airport on my last day.||As they say, arrive here as a guest, leave...

My room was very clean and well kept. Ida and Trish are wonderful hostesses and make you feel like family. The pousada is delightful spacious and priced low for generous amenities. Locations is very convenient to the beach, hiking trails, the lake and other ecologic or touristic attractions.
