THE BARRACUDA — Hotel in Região Geográfica Imediata de Ilhéus – Itabuna

Absolutely stunning hotel, stayed for 4 nights during April 2023 - could not recommend it more highly.

Rooms: Stayed in the Forest Suite - the room is excellent, plenty of space, huge bathroom (see pictures). Windows are massive as well so lots of natural light into the room and bathroom.

Service: Exceptional quality service in all aspects. The cleaning staff do a top notch job in your room both morning and evening turndown service. The front desk team were very helpful, especially Cadu. The chefs were excellent, on the days where it was quieter, they prepared us some extra breakfast dishes to try local specialities. All the waiters were really nice, special shout-out to Adson, he was great.

Food/drink: Breakfast was amazing, dinner was pretty good too. Every 2/3 nights, they do a "parrillan" night which is a set menu - a little expensive but the meal is very tasty, and they come round with more meat if you'd like.

Location: Itacaré is a quaint beach town. The hotel is located up a small hill and so you have great views of the sea. The nearest beach is a 5 minute walk from the hotel, and there are 3 or 4 different beaches within walking distance. Bahia is an amazing state of Brazil to visit. About a 1.5h drive from Ilheus airport, the hotel can arrange a one way taxi for you for 60 dollars.

Experiences: There is a great infinity pool to lounge around all day. Tennis courts as well although we never used it. A gym is being built, but for now there is a small outdoor weights/yoga area, with a 1hr class every morning, alternating between a CrossFit class and a yoga class. The hotel was quiet on the weekdays we stayed and so we basically had private personal trainers, who were great.

Improvements: More range on the menu for lunch foods, such as sandwiches or something lighter. A few more sunbeds with shade by the pool when the hotel is busy would be useful too.

Firstly - I sincerely apologize to the whole team at Barracuda for my delay in writing this review. I ran out of superlatives to describe our time there. The location is wonderful, the rooms unique, the food and cocktails are amazing but what makes this place stand out is the team. You will be blown away by the warmth of every person, who are immensely happy to enrich your experience in the most genuine and authentic way. Then you need Paulo who leads the experience team and they connect all the dots. You simply have to dine in the hotel restaurant as often as you can (the special events are amazing and I still dream of he grilled lobster), but you also have to experience the river boat ride, swim in a waterfall and then have incredibly fresh barbecued fish caught right there. Or a day at the most amazing beach club, a cocktail at sunset looking over the river - Paulo and team organize it all. You think that is great but the rest of the team in the restaurant or reception magically take an interest and are proud to share the inside story. To say that Barracuda is paradise plus would be absolutely spot on. We are already planning our return trip…. Thank you...
