Took an uber from the airport to the hotel it was dirt cheap got it for R$45.00 one way.(The ride is about 45min to the hotel.) The pick up location is outside by door number 1A. Super easy to take an uber. Once you get your luggage make your way outside to pick up area. Ignore the Hustler, usually a man trying to get you to take a taxi. Fyi there is wifi at the airport and the uber app worked fine. You can pay cash too. It gives you the option once you confirm pick up request. |The hotel is decent. The grounds are kept clean . The hotel was pretty clean. My room was decent Pretty big size, nothing fancy it was just ok. The only bad part they have rooms with NO Windows which sucked at one point i felt isolated. My room was a regular family room. So be advise don't get stuck with a room that has no windows. They do have ocean view family rooms. |The pool is decent size not to big or small. They also have a kids small pool. Grounds are kept clean. The breakfast included is also decent. It is more of a Brazilian continental breakfast. It did have a variety of breads and fruits. |Fyi the elevator at the hotel drag so be patient. Especially in the morning or afternoon hours. Elevators are small and only two of them available. |The best part is the location. You are across the street from the beach and many restaurants nearby. ( I eat dinner at a pizzeria place on the beach about 5min walk from hotel, they had decent drinks and food. At night there was a live band. Good times ! Carlito's Pizzeria. Be advise brazilian pizza is different than the USA) At night it was easy to walk near the beach and safe. Many people out at night walking around and buying acai ice cream and many other snacks. English is not spoken at all so practice your few portuguese phrases. It is difficult to find someone to speak english, especially inside restaurants. Fyi near the beach the waitress or waiters add a 10% tip to your total bill so no need to tip them extra. I used my debit card and had no problems. Also when you get your bill at a restaurant , you have to get up and walk over to the cashier that will charge your debit/credit card, at least the restaurants on the beach.|Overall its a GO . Have a brazilian caperinha and a smile, its a journey, enjoy the hotel which has a good location. Uber worked fine back to the airport as well, |R$48.00 one way to...
Read moreIf there is something I find to be pointed out in in this property is the kindness and politeness of the whole staff, they are all very friendly and warm. Specially, Daniela from Reservations, Ana in the Front Desk, and Silvio in the restaurant Dos Corais and the pool-service. Besides, the chubby and paunchy man dressing a white shirt in the restaurant, who always was smiling and positive. ||Breakfast in this hotel is great with a wide variety of meals, including various local preparations such as the tasty TAPIOCA prepared by a knowledgeable woman dressing local outfits and having graciousness at all moment. ||Having state of the art 3 desktop computers in the lobby there is plenty of options to use the internet and the wi fi always worked well. In the afternoon, being posible to drink complimentary coffe by the lobby área as well as fresh water makes a good way to spend time after a day of sun bath or a cloudy day.||The swimming pool is so well located that encouraged me to remain several hours per day up to the sun is gone. ||Another remarkable mention deserves the dinner, which boast a broad assortment of meals (meat, fish and seafood, chicken, pasta, soup, pork, etc.) with the all-you-can-eat modality. As for the beers that can be ordered, I would suggest the addition the liter bottle so the small bottles and cans have another option.||Being the beach just across the Street, I appreciate the pedestrian crossing with the red color so cars stop giving priority to pedestrians. That indeed exist in many pedestrian crossings in Maceio beach, which is something unique in Brazil.||I will cretainly come back to Hotel Ponta Verde for my next vacation, it is in my list of the ourstanding propertis in Brazil along with Crocobeach...
Read moreThis is a good hotel 35 kms from Maceio airport (R$100 by taxi). In fact it is the only hotel in Praia do Frances .Its main advantage is that it is right on the beach, unlike many hotels in the state capital Maceio. Rooms are a decent size, nicely decorated, with sea view (if you ask for it) .Good air conditioning, comfortable beds, small but effective bathroom. Only drawback is the lack of an armchair in the room. Food in the restaurant OK. Breakfast buffet (included in the price) also OK. Reasonable pool area, no sauna or exercise room.Avoid the months of June, July and August (heavy rain).||||The beach has a Brazilian vibe (endless stream of vendors of french fries, beer, shrimps, clothes, donkey rides etc) which some gringoes may not care for. But it is fun nevertheless. The "village" has a couple of reasonable restaurants, including the best, Mare Pimenta (Italian), otherwise it is completely dead after...
