I must say that I was principally sold on this hotel because of its location and a recommendation from a friend. Now having experienced it myself I have to say I would not go rushing back if price was not a factor. I have to admit to having been disappointed on several scores. ||||First, I asked for a double room and got a twin room. Yes, there may have been no other rooms available, but that is no excuse for beds that size. The single bed was tiny, the mattress very soft and the linen worn out and frayed (including the thinnest and hardest bathroom towels I have ever encountered). I did ask to be moved, but no effort was made to do this. ||||Secondly, the carpets in the room was old and threadbare and as result have ceased to make for a welcoming environment. Seriously the room was a little depressing. ||||Thirdly, the wifi was a little bit unreliable, but only on the first day admittedly. On other days it was fine, but a little bit slow.||||On a more positive note, breakfast was a nice mix of hot and cold buffet, that included many different breads, fruits, juices, cheeses. The service was generally very good and the people very helpful. The downstairs waiting area was also a nice place to wait for people. The reception area in contrast to the rooms is nice and welcoming.||||Finally, as for the location, it is very conveniently located and gives you many options as to what to do and where to eat.||||A good revamp, new linen, carpets etc and this place will be...
Read moreOn first entering the room the decor and furnishings seem very 1970's - but the cable TV is a pleasant surprise with English channels and this is the beginning of seeing the upside of staying here.||||The Hotel Reception- especially Joel- are fantastic, ever helpful with any queries or assistance you might need with anything- a great concierge facility in effect.||||The hotel has a microwave and iron for use on the 5th floor and free wifi/tv viewing in the lobby.||The wifi was adequate - the breakfast maybe a little lame but..||||In the locale there is a great supermarket 5 minutes walk down the road. the hotel is in Cidade Baixa - the main nightlife centre for Porto Alegre so there are bars and restaurants up the street that get very busy. Not noisy enough to wake me though and this was the first week of the world cup with throngs of people on the pavement outside the respective bars.||Great...
Read moreMy son and I stayed here during the World Cup.||||The location of this hotel is right in the middle of a very active "party area". There was noise from traffic and revellers all night long as most of the bars and restaurant seemed to be open until well after midnight. ||||The room was small and fairly tired, but clean and well kept. Wifi worked well in all areas and the staff were friendly and spoke English well. ||||When we arrived we were told it would be about 3 hours to get us into our room, (we arrived at 3pm with an advertised check-in time of 2pm) so we left our bags there and jumped in one of the many available taxis to start sight seeing. ||||Quite a nice city with lots to see and do and very friendly and welcoming locals, this city and stay rated as my son's favourite of our 4 leg journey...
