Fera Palace Hotel — Hotel in Região Geográfica Imediata de Salvador

While the hotel itself is stunning, I wouldn’t necessarily take the reviews that mention that the location of the hotel is “safe” at face value. This review is more of my way of keeping others protected. My husband and I stayed at this hotel in May of 2023 to celebrate our honeymoon and it was absolutely a stain on our otherwise splendid time. The hotel itself is quiet with security guards, but the area surrounding the property is littered with urine, crime, trash and some dangerous people. Several of the surrounding buildings are decrepit and abandoned. It’s a pretty dystopian setting lol. While walking down to the Pelourinho neighborhood, my husband and I were firstly threatened with a knife and then, about twenty minutes later I was mugged. I could give you the entire sob story, but what struck me the most was after we made our way back to the hotel with a broken finger — the owner of the hotel tried so desperately to convince me to not go to a hospital, and further tried to convince me that my finger was not broken and that I would be totally fine! It was… incredibly surreal and absolutely patronizing. I wish he had at least acted like something dire was unfolding. I fully understand that the hotel and their staff has nothing to do with what happens OUTSIDE of the property, but I really did feel like I was just being pushed aside carelessly by the owner in a moment of need.

Fera Palace Hotel came on recommendation from friends, and it did not disappoint. Beautiful restoration, rooftop pool with views over the Bay with a bar with good drinks and well managed by Fabio. The food at the bar and restaurant is excellent, we left with memories of the delicious shrimp tacos, hamburgers and seafood rice.|The rooms are comfortable with all amenities with a simply delicious welcome sweet tray. Evening turndown service by Marcia was lively and engaging with Tais keeping everything in good supply during her daytime service.|All staff were lovely, friendly and professional. Delightful old school hotel that is in excellent condition, from the spacious high-ceiling lobby, bar and restaurant, to the beautiful tiled floors and period architectural details. The rooms continue this theme except the beds are modern and very comfortable and the air con and WiFi are good. The rooftop pool and bar are a great place to recharge after touring the old town. The Fera Palace is located an easy walk from the historical center with lots of restaurants and live music. Six-stars to Luiz the concierge who is a standout!
