We arrived at the Pousada greeted by a young woman who spoke no English and seemed disinterested in my poor Portuguese The manager who I communicated with before arriving, via WhatsApp spoke English but barely greeted us when we passed him on arrival. While he efficiently did what he said re transport to the Pousada, sadly there was no Brazilian warmth. The young woman brought us to our room, opened up the door, handed us the key and left. No orientation to the Pousada, the grounds, breakfast Nothing. I’ve been visiting Brazil for 20+ years and do know some basic Portuguese but the check in woman made little attempt to speak at all. Next day we asked for a map and met a truly lovely woman originally from Italy who seemed to be doing everything. We asked questions and all were answered. She arranged for a boat tour which was great. The 1st nights dinner was not very good . But have to say on 2 subsequent restaurant visits food + service was decent, a grilled fruit dessert was lovely. Breakfast was not buffet style, but was basic and adequate. Please BEWARE the Pousada is perched HIGH above the beach it’s a treacherous climb through a hilly jungle path of inadequately maintained wooden steps and huge tree roots, which you must carefully negotiate. I would say the walking part is equivalent to having to walk up 4 flights of this winding dirt path to get to their elevator to the top of another 80-90’. You could also walk those steps but would be equal to about another 8 stories. This should be Emblazoned everywhere. This is not a place to stay for anyone with mobility issues re walking up and down jungle style rough paths. Sadly I took a fall when we were leaving, on our 6th day there. So Beware. When you do make it up, the Bungalos are nicely furnished and our view was beautiful over rain forest like views to the sea. All in all I could not go again given the hilly incline and poor path...

We spent 4 great days in this wonderful place. We cant fault it at all.Firstly,the breakfast is generous and delicious. Gary, the owner, insists on finding out what your favorite tastes are in the morning. I mentionned oats and was served a great porridge every morning. This pousada is clean, fully equipped (mosquito net, aircon, hammock :D) and extremely quiet. There were days we found it hard to leave the pousada. We didnt once fail to miss dinner in the impressive restaurant on any night. The food was outstanting. A limited variety but every dish was mouthwatering. Not to mention the desserts. J. Carlos,you are a genious in the kitchen! Being vegan, Gary's attention to detail exceeded my expectations. Gary also made sure we enjoyed the island of Boipeba to its fullest. He took the time to customize a tour by asking us what type of adventure we were after. He hooked us up with Ronaldo who not only worked at the Pousada but has lived on the island all his life. Ronaldo is an amazing character. Humble, kind and loved by all the locals. Thanks to his knowledge of french we learned everything we needed to know about the wildlife, culture and history of Boipeba. Gary's energy, professionalism, sense of humor and attention to detail has left us missing this great place. We left with heavy hearts but are sure to be...

We were there for 3 nights in October.||Gorgeous hidden gem.beutiful, spacious , clean bungalows. The patio area is great: private , 2 hammocks, and a day bed! Spoiled for choice. Very relaxing and peaceful .||Gary, the owner is a great host, very caring, generous and would do anything for his guests.||Breakfasts were fantastic, home made cakes, fresh local fruit juices, best toasts .... My brother wanted bacon and we both love tapioca, Gary made sure we had that every morning . We are French , Gary even put in our room French books !!! How about that for care and attention to details .||Juan Carlos , his business partner , cooks fantastic dinners served in an intimate little restaurant .
