-No water in rooms, you have to pay bottles in the entrance of the hotel. -Small lift, buttons barely working -Not so nice woman at the entrance -Employees don't all speak english, even at the room service when you call with their very badly working room phone -ATM 20% fees -Dont fill shower gel for days, if you put the empty bottle at the entrance of the room to show its empty they just throw the bottle and let the room without shower gel (wtf), you call, and the rude woman makes you feel its normal they arent proactive and dont check, and you need to call for that (oh im sorry, I thought i was in a 200$ a night Hilton, not some random Brazilian motel, my bad I must have entered thr wrong buiding) -bad breakfast, people dont know what meat is in the salty croissant -most useless neighborhood ever, so far from rio, i still dont get why the prices were so high -the toilet flush barely works -the toilet ground has stains uncleanable -the wifi system is very annoying with individual passwords -the glasses close to the pool are shamingly dirty -the small gym club has irrelevant machines -the waiters by the swimming pool arent proactive either to tell you its self service (i guess ? I left after waiting a while..) -one day i came back and my room was very stinky -I threw my tie in the trash multiple times and cleaning people kept putting it back on my table, thanks for parternalizing me but the tie didnt just slip in the trash by accident -between rooms some neighbors are very noisy and the isolation is terribly bad probably because of the stupid 2 doors between rooms (i asked a quiet place though, but the neighboring helicopters make this irrelevant anyway) -you cannot hang your suit because the closet has no room for this -I guess my room door was kept open for long because many mosquitoes one day (the window is always open)
This is the perfect example of "it is not necessarily good because it is expensive".
I will avoid Hilton for the...
Read moreThe Hilton Barra Rio de Janeiro offers a luxurious and relaxing stay with some unique perks. The daily breakfast provided by the hotel is delicious and well-varied, ensuring a great start to the day. Another convenient feature is the shopping mall located just across the road, which makes shopping for essentials or enjoying a quick meal incredibly easy. Additionally, there's a market nearby, within walking distance, where you can grab fresh food and other items, a real bonus for those who prefer exploring the local area on foot.
One of the highlights of the hotel is the rooftop swimming pool, which offers a breathtaking view of Lagoa de Jacarepaguá. It’s the perfect spot to unwind after a busy day, whether you're watching the sunset or simply enjoying the skyline. Plus, the hotel is only a 10-minute walk from the site of the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics, which adds to the historical significance of the location.
However, if you are in Rio for the Carnival festivities, be aware that the hotel is quite far from the main events in Copacabana and other central areas. The drive can take anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour, depending on traffic and weather conditions. For those looking to save on transportation, the train is a more affordable option at around $2.00 USD compared to $45 to $85 USD for an Uber ride.
The hotel’s modern design, coupled with excellent service and comfortable rooms, makes it a great choice for those looking to stay in Barra da Tijuca, especially if you don't mind the commute to central Rio for certain events. If you're in town for business or leisure in this area, the Hilton Barra is definitely a solid choice.
Overall, I recommend this hotel for its convenience, comfort, and spectacular views, with just the distance to Copacabana being the main drawback for those...
Read moreI’ve stayed here several times and as time goes by the quality keeps dropping.
What once was a great experience has shifted to a very unpleasant one (specially when you are paying the “Hilton” price tag).
This last time was (literally) the last drop, no pun intended: they have serious plumbing issues.
The first room I was offered had a nasty smell coming from the toilet. Really nasty stuff, sewer level stink.
I immediately went back to front desk and asked for another room.
After a bit of a condescending exchange with the staff (him being condescending to me) I got a new room.
Unpacked and started getting ready for a work appointment when I noticed a freaking POOL OF WATER next to the toilet.
There was a leak somewhere.
Had no time nor energy to fight for a new functioning room again and just threw a towel on the puddle to contain it.
I was getting late to my appointment.
When I went in the shower noticed more plumbing issues: super weak water pressure and another leak…
Just gave up altogether, got dressed and left.
Since I just stayed for one night I didn’t make a fuss about it when checking out.
But I’ll never come back again.
PS: super sad to see they have the whole furniture made to accommodate a fully stocked minibar but since a couple of years ago removed all food and beverages from it and now you have to purchase goods at the lobby… what is this? Ibis mentality?
They have the building structure but are slowly degrading the service into a 3 star motel while still maintaining the Hilton...
