Terrible experience with this hotel.
We arrived and our room looked great at first glance, but had ants. We told the front desk and they told us they would handle it. After getting lunch we returned and still had ants so we again asked the front desk to clean the room. When we returned from dinner they let us know the room was clean. We learned that was not true at midnight when I woke up with ants crawling on me. We again told the front desk.
At that point there was nothing they could do for our room so they downgraded us to another room for the night. This room was flithy and covered in rust.
The next day they moved us again to a room similar to our original booking. It was gross. We found a cockroach.
Before we left I waited an hour to complain to a supervisor about the conditions of the hotel and asked them to adjust my bill for the one night we spent in a downgraded room. They agreed but when we checked out, they did not adjust the bill. I waited another hour to speak to a different supervisor, explained the issue and asked to adjust my bill for the one night. He again promised they would do so but stated it would take a few days.
Spolier: They didn't adjust anything.
I wish I could recommend this hotel, but this was absolutely not worth it. Terrible conditions and...
Read moreI stayed with friends for four nights in a “Luxus” room with a partial sea view.
The good: The hotel has an excellent location — right across from the beach, with several great options for dinner and coffee just around the corner and more within a 10-minute walk. Breakfast was nice, with a good variety of options and Nespresso coffee. The personnel at reception were very polite and accommodating.
The not-so-good: The rooms are very run-down and clearly in need of renovation and maintenance. There was a strong smell of humidity or mold (we even changed rooms, which helped only slightly). Cleanliness was disappointing: the pillows smelled unwashed, the carpet under the bed was old and dirty, the bathroom door was eroded due to water damage, the shower overflowed, and the light switches were grimy. For some reason they only provided shower towels but only 1 hand tower each day. We had to ask each day for hand towels…
The gym consists of just two treadmills and one cross trainer, and the bar on the 12th floor only has two tables.
Overall, this feels more like a 3-star hotel at best. It would be fairer if the hotel were more transparent about the current condition of the rooms...
Read moreConsidering that this hotel just opened not even 3 years ago (former known as TRUMP Hotel Rio de Janeiro) it seems the owner/management does/did not really focus in build-quality and maintainance, which is very sad because the building itself and design-concept are quite unique for the Rio coastline. Most of the hotels - especially those at Copacabana and Ipanema beach - derive from the regions prime time during the 90s.
The LSH basically got all you need, but you won't be satisfied if you're looking for a 5-star experience. Most of the staff is not able to communicate in english, so as a guest you need to be able to express yourself in portuguese or at least spanish. The service-staff attention and coordination no matter if it's at the breakfast-restaurant, the pool-bar area or housekeeping can be described as very low to non existing. Overall that's pretty sad, because the hotel's location is remarkable: right in front of a beautiful beach-area, close to...
