A 3-star experience, in a 4-star hotel. The view on the rooftop is great, that's true. But the rooms, internet speed and noise aren't that of hotel of this caliber. I spent a week there, for New Year's in 2022.
The rooms: they are super simple, and the lighting is harsh: you can't dim them. They're either full on, hurting your eyes, or they're off. Overall, you feel like sleeping in a meeting room, with a bed.
Speaking of the bed, they don't have double beds. All of them inside the hotel are individual modular ones, tied together underneath when one wants a double. But it retains an annoying space/bump in the middle.
On top of that, the internet speed inside the rooms is around 20-40mbps (as of Jan 2023). It's unstable and one can't have zoom meetings with the video on. When I asked the reception if there was a faster connection, they said that the speed in the rooms was made to help with simple social media usage, and not for work. Not what I was hoping to hear from a 4-star hotel. Nowadays is quite common to see places with over 300/400 mpbs internet speed. I hoped for more on that front.
What I also didn't like is that the frigobar only has 4 bottles of water in them, as a standard. They said this was because of the pandemic, but we're already in 2023. They should go back to filling them up, like normal hotels.
But perhaps the most disappointing fact is the noise. Although the windows are indeed sound proof (and they work well), the noise comes from within the hotel. The room doors don't seal properly (they look like normal, cheap ones). But, since the corridor has a very loud echo, it seems the hotel purposely wanted to save money on that front. And you can't avoid the echo: the entire tower is like that. All rooms are around the elevators, on a square format. Even with AC on, and the farthest from the elevators, you can hear everything: people speaking, the "ding" when the elevators hit the floor, etc. Expect to be awaken several times during the night with people coming back at 2am or slamming their doors shut. Bring earplugs.
The service was OK. Some receptionists were great, but others seemed to have little patience dealing with simple questions or requests. Perhaps better training is needed.
Having said all of that, the beakfast is good. But perhaps they keep the air conditioner too cold there.
Overall, I recommend saving your money and going somewhere else if you prioritize sleep quality and a better bang...
Read moreI recently had the unfortunate experience of staying at Windsor towers /barra da Tijuca -RJ,|and it was an absolute disaster from start to finish. The hospitality provided by the staff was nothing short of abysmal. They seemed disinterested and lacked any sense of professionalism, leaving me feeling unwelcome throughout my stay.||To make matters worse, the hotel had the audacity to charge fees for the utensils (knife and fork ) . I was shocked to find out that they don't provide a iron charge me extra just for providing an iron, for simple minor touch up , amenity that should be readily available in any decent hotel., instead charge laundry service fees , they also not provide an adequate luggage stand for luggage storage .||But the most frustrating part of my stay was the never-ending issue with the door key. It malfunctioned repeatedly, forcing me to make several trips to the front desk for assistance. It's infuriating to deal with such incompetence, especially when you're already tired from traveling.||What adds insult to injury is that the management showed no concern for these issues. There were no apologies or attempts to rectify the situation. It was as if they simply didn't care about providing a pleasant experience for their guests. In fact they blame us for the door key malfunction.||I would strongly advise anyone considering a stay at Windsor towers to think twice and look elsewhere for accommodation. The lack of hospitality, exploitative charges for basic services provided at not charge at any other hotel, it seem like they were trying to squeeze every last penny out of their guests, plus the malfunctioning door key make this hotel an absolute nightmare. Save yourself the frustration and disappointment and find a more welcoming and competent...
Read moreWe stayed at this hotel for 13 nights. The hotel was clean and the first few days were fine. HOWEVER, in the middle of our stay, we were asked to move rooms, due to the maintenance on the floor we were in. When the bellhop person came to help us with the luggage, we found out that this maintenance has been scheduled for over 2 weeks and he didn’t understand why they have given us a room on that floor. That was very upsetting but we didn’t complain. HOWEVER, the door knob on the new room was broken and the key would not open the door. They gave us the option to change rooms (AGAIN?? SERIOUSLY??) or they would ask maintenance to fix it. Even though they said they had fixed it, the key would not work properly. When we check out, they charged us for 5 water bottles ($50 Brazilian reais). I asked if they would really charge me for that after all the problems we faced during our stay or if that could a courtesy on their part. I was told I had to pay for the water in the coldest way ever! Would never stay there again.|RESTAURANT REVIEW: we had a nice dinner on our first night and paid to have breakfast included. The breakfast is buffet style and it’s fairly good. But it’s the same daily, so it got boring after a while. We invited our mother to eat breakfast with us one morning and asked for a decaffeinated coffee for her as it is NOT available in the menu. Even though we paid for her breakfast buffet, we had to pay EXTRA for her to have a...
