This is my 10th day of my 2week holiday and my experience of this hotel has been shocking! On arrival, the lobby looks basic, empty; with placed pvc sofas around coffee tables. Lifts hold no more that 3 people at a time: not good as cleaners and staff regulary use them and been situated on the 9 floor it can be 10minutes before a lift is free to use. These lifts also stop between floors if they are 'Overloaded'.
On entering my room i was welcomed by a brown, cord, patterned Carpet, 3 Single divan beds pushed up against the wall with torn sheets and over used, frayed bases (i dardn't even investigate the mattresses): The sheets on our beds are apparently changed every 3 days and Fresh towels every 4 days, But we have only had our sheets changed yesterday (9th day with no plans of any fresh bedding untill we have vacated our rooms). We had Fresh towels today from house keeping. The shower is a wet room shared with the toilet and sink (no bath) no bigger than 1m and half squared...its a squeeze. The room itself has very little storage space with outdated, dark brown, flat pack furniture. A cave has more plug sockets than this room! A Wall lighting/fixture fell off the wall when i turned it on leaving it hanging and highly dangerous exposed wires behind the light fixture...right above my 7year olds bed. However, i could refit onto bracket but told my son not t touch.
The Water/Shower runs cold often. And there is very little water pressure at times to shower at all.
There is a tv in the '3 Star' rooms but these are the old coloured box portable tvs, poor signal and only local channals available.
There is also a small box fridge but mine is tempremental and not very cool.
Air Conditioning has to be purchased from reception at a ridiculous price a day..They have also started to charge 4Lev for half hours play on the kids trampoline as from today. As far as we were aware the play area and air con were included in the price on booking.
The majority of staff are morbid and cant speak a word of English. The house keeper/Cleaner seemed to scorn my son; scowling at him and pointing to a wet toilet roll she took from the wet room which is shared with the toilet when cleaning my room. I use the word 'cleaning' lightly as they only ever empty the bin and replace toilet paper...On questioning the reception what their actual duties are i was told that they are to Vac, Tidy beds, wipe surfaces, clean toilets/ shower rooms and vac balconys. The dining room staff are just as morbid; there is one particular lady member of staff that picks food off the breakfast trays with her hands and walks around chomping; swiping used tableware from under your nose before youve even had chance to finish your breakfast...Not at all profesional. Breakfast is basic with the same served everyday. There is one coffee machine that caters the entire hotel at breakfast.
There are not enough sun beds to accomodate guests and you have to pay extra for the padding that lays on them. The kids seem to enjoy the pool.
The WiFi is hit and miss. Only really available in the reception area.
Safety deposit boxes/Safes are situated in the main lobby area.
I personally havn't eaten here but my 13 year old daughter has reported the food to be over cooked or greasy.
Other guests i have spoken seem to have similar complaints...One lady booked into her room finding the sheets hadn't been changed from previous guests, she was told that there were no fresh bedding available at this time.
If i could onlt upload photos...It doesnt reach 3 Star expectations at all.
On the Up side, the hotel is situated on the doorstep of a strip of many restraunts and shops. The beach is no more than a 7minute walk away with little...
Read moreNew manager this summer(Melina) who doesn't give a damn about residents! I had booked 3* room well in advance, email request for a room on 3rd floor near lift for mobility purposes. On arrival, was given a key for 2* section of hotel(rooms & toilet tiny) Furious!!! Left my phone number at reception for Manager to call at 9am. She didn't. I went to her office. Demanded a room in 3* which I had paid extra for plus single person supplement. She said my side was 3* too, a lie! I said it was very simple...either I get the room I paid for or I make a formal complaint to Tourist Minister NIKOLINA ANGELKOVA tourist complaint line. She is capable of shutting substandard hotels & firing unprofessional staff. Suddenly, I was told a room would be ready in 3* today @2pm. I collected keys & moved. No apology from this woman!!! The night shift girl I first dealt with did apologise but couldn't do anything during night. I can only say that staying here many years, Balkan need to take a long hard look at management running their hotels. This manager (Melina) was only interested in ripping off the customers!. 5/5 for helpful staff & cleaners. 0/5 for this...
Read moreArrived back to the uk this morning after a week at the arda 3* hotel. It is not as terrible as the reviews make out. Yes it is basic but you get what you pay for. You make the holiday not the hotel. Many people review about dirty towels ect.. simple put them near the door and when cleaner comes in they hang new ones up. It is 5 mins walk from the most beautiful beach, and gorgeous food on the door step. 15 mins walk from the main strip if you want super lively or a land train stops at the top of the walk way. I'd recommend b&b or room only. The breakfast is basic, we ended up having toastie each day as it was the best option for us. The owner and partner are just lovely and really helpful. If they don't have something they will get it for you. We got aircon .. best thing we did.. no bites at all. I would suggest you take an extension cable as the plugs are quite high up. No iron provided. The guests we met have been going year after year.. some on their 10th year there.. cant be all bad ay? All in all basic but loved our trip. We are going back next year,...
