If you want to start your summer with problems and having to take care of everything this is the place. I strongly advise prospective guests to explore other options in the vicinity, before settling on Galeon Hotel, as there are numerous places around with similar price tag that deliver a significantly more enjoyable and satisfying experience. Galeon is NOT a 5 star hotel. Not even 3.||From the moment I arrived, I was met with series of disappointments that overshadowed any positive aspects of the hotel.||||Below I have described everything in details, as it was shared at reception before. But they are “very busy” there and can't do much.||||About the parking: (0/5 stars)||1. Everywhere from the hotel they wrote that you cannot make a reservation for the parking lot. I was surprisingly asked when I arrived if I was one of the two people who had reserved a seat in front of the hotel. Think if you know someone from the hotel, I think that's the secret. And, come with a car that costs more than 200K, otherwise better by train.||2. After I asked to unload the luggage, before moving the car (they create such a stress because of this) for which the bellman helped me, I asked where to leave the car. I was told to wait 5 minutes for the Shuttle to come and escort me to the parking lot and take me back to the hotel. While waiting for the “shuttle” to come outside I was told there would be a 15 minute delay. I asked them if they could drive my car and they said they had to call two people and it would have been more difficult. The 15 minutes turned into an hour, then the Shuttle came. A very nervous man in a 20-year-old Audi came and escorted us very furiously to the parking lot. And then it just disappeared…. They called him and he said he had a lot of work and couldn't drive us back. We were just left in some parking lot, in the evening. We walked by foot, thank goodness there is a GPS to navigate.||3. The parking lot is full of dog excrement. Be careful, especially if you are wearing formal shoes. You can then use the shoe shine machine at the hotel, which hasn't been cleaned since at least the last century.||4. Don’t forget anything in the car, you have 10 minutes walking + 10 minutes back, to take your belongings.||||About the room: (1/5 stars)||1. Definitely not the square footage that is described. People are leaving their belongings outside the room, in order to fit in.||2. The air conditioner (rather, it’s remote) sometimes works, sometimes it resets to factory settings. Randomly. It takes 2-5 minutes to turn it on or off.||3. The bed is a good size, but the duvets are a maximum of 120 centimeters. This is not a duvet cover for two. I asked at the reception for an additional one, it didn't come. Travel hack: Rotate the blanket 90 degree, to be able to fit 2 persons.||4. The cleaning women are very nice and helpful (+1), ask them for extra towels because the hotel management relies on you using the sun during your stay.||5. One of the toothbrushes that the hotel provides in the room was already open on my arrival.||6. The internet is extremely slow (6 mbps), barely usable and unstable. In Bulgaria the internet is almost free, at a really good speed. Not good for a “5 star” hotel.||7. Everything in the room is yellowish with spots, even the bedding. No additional pillows of course.||||About the restaurant:||1. I have been to the restaurant three times. I once ordered bruschetta (it was written in plural form) with tuna, tomatoes and arugula. ONE bruschetta came with lots of tomatoes on a salad. Ask what will be served to you. Even the waiter couldn't understand why they wrote that way.||2. Breakfast is a normal buffet, there are a lot of things that you can choose of, it is the same every day.||3. Most of the food was delicious and after the breakfast.||4. There are no much takeaway options, especially for beverages.||||For final, the hotel replied the following in one of the comments:||“The price is matching to the quality and include a lot of services as breakfast, internet, safe in the room, sauna and steam bad, indoor and outdoor pool.”||||And the honest response is:||Breakfast is a normal one, that you can find in the every hotel around, the internet is extremely slow and unstable, even zero-stars motel has internet here, the safe is really small and you can’t fit a laptop or tablet, the indoor pool is for maximum 4 persons, looks dirty, the outdoor one is 1.30 m deep, you can see from the balcony the other hotels and how people jump in the pool, in Galeon is not possible, maybe this is the reason why it is empty. Ouh… and the price for the hotel you see from your balcony is 20% lower for Ultra All Inclusive.||For sure, it is soooo overpriced and at times it feels more like a dormitory with a restaurant, not a...
Read moreOur stay at Galeon Hotel was, unfortunately, far from what we expected from a five-star property. While the hotel does have some positive aspects – the location is close to the beach yet away from the busiest streets of Sunny Beach, the pool is acceptable for a short swim, and the breakfast is decent enough to start the day – these are overshadowed by serious shortcomings that affected the entire experience.
The biggest issue was the cleanliness, or rather, the complete lack of it. When we entered our room, it was obvious that it had not been cleaned after the previous guests. The surfaces were dusty, the mirror, linens, and curtains were stained with sun cream, and there were even leftovers left behind in the room. To make matters worse, the air conditioning unit had visible mold inside, which raised serious concerns about hygiene and health. What shocked us most was the reaction of the staff: when we reported the condition of the room, they came to check but told us that “it is normal to be like this.” For a hotel claiming five stars, such an answer is unacceptable.
The situation became even more frustrating when the cleaning lady came to “fix” the problem. Instead of properly sanitizing and cleaning the room, she tried to hide the leftovers rather than removing them. This felt careless and disrespectful to paying guests.
Another disappointment was the parking. We were told repeatedly that there was no available parking for us, yet every single day we saw multiple empty spots right in front of the hotel. This inconsistency only added to the feeling of poor management and lack of professionalism.
Overall, while Galeon Hotel benefits from a good location and has the potential to offer a pleasant stay, the lack of proper cleaning, the dismissive attitude of the staff, and the misleading information regarding parking make it impossible for me to recommend this place. A true five-star hotel should provide comfort, hygiene, and quality service – none of which we...
Read moreThe good: The building, rooms, and pool look great. The reception staff excellent. So far 5 stars.
The location is in between Sunny Beach and Nessebar. 2-3km from the center of each. There is cheap public transport and even a free city shuttle between Sunny Beach and Nessebar, and the bus stop is not far from the hotel. Generally, use the public transport unless you are in a hurry. The Taxi drivers ask for 15-20 leva for 2-3km rides, without turning on their meters.
Someone mentioned that the 10% restaurant discount for hotel guests is false advertising. We did first receive a bill without the discount, but it was adjusted when we mentioned that we are guests.
Some other places to eat that we enjoyed: Bulgari Restaurant, Bistro Pirates, and Plakamoto (in Nessebar). We did not enjoy Vicky because of the food, and found the restaurant hotel to be just okay.
The bad: The free internet gave no IPv6 connectivity. With IPv4 I could load facebook, google, and that's about it. Terrible.
The WC had the "disinfected" sign on it, but the seat cover had urine on and under it. The bedroom and living room are not vacuumed frequently. There was hair on the floor. Some of the dishes and cutlery in the kitchen were not clean. Maybe rinsed.
The cleaning lady seemed nice. A vacuum cleaner was not part of her tools on any day that I saw her. She also seemed in a hurry, but probably because I was in the room with her and she wanted to get out of my way.
Conclusions: I would not stay here again. I would also not stay in Sunny Beach again. Sunny Beach may be fun for some young people, but to me it seems like a tourist trap. Nessebar is better, save for the omnipresent souvenir shops that all sell the same tacky stuff. Varna is much better. I have not tried the other resorts...
