When we got to the hotel the lady on reception (reminded me of Maureen Lipman from the old BT adverts) was really nice and pleasant. She told us we couldn't check in yet but we could have our all inclusive wrist bands so we could get a drink and some food if we wanted. When we got our room keys we were escorted to our room by a man who was like a Bulgarian Manuel. He showed us how the aircon worked and helped with our cases. A very nice chap who seemed to be working 24 hours a day. The room was very basic, the hairdryer in the bathroom didn't work and we had to get a remote for the tv from reception! The view from the balcony was of the restaurant so the balcony didn't really get used apart from to dry our towels. The rooms really did need a good refurb but as we didn't really spend much time in them it wasn't a big issue to us. The staff that worked behind the bar near the pool were really friendly and helpful. That said however the man that worked behind the bar near reception (looked a bit like vin diesel) was really rude and arrogant. He also spent most of the time looking in the mirror at himself. Not sure if he didn't like us because we were English! The entertainment for the kids (kids club) was really good. They only used it once but enjoyed themselves. The entertainment on an evening was varied. There was a comedian on one night and he sounded funny buy as he was speaking Bulgarian I've not idea if he was funny or not! This was a regular theme on an evening, the entertainment was focused towards all the Russian and Bulagrian guests that were there and never catered for the English guests (Only found one other family that was English in the hotel). The same can be said about the food. They seemed to cater for Eastern Europeans and Russians. That said there was lots of variety. I enjoyed Bulgaria and would happily revisit the country, however I wouldn't stay here again just mainly because they don't cater for the English very well. The location of the hotel was good however, far enough away from the 18-30 drunks in the centre of sunny beach but still close to a good selection of restaurants and shops. On a final note, the beach is...
Read moreSo, I'll tell you guys about my all experience in this hotel. We came to hotel at 4pm~, so we got instantly the room. ( I heard the story, that one family came out before the 2pm, when they are starting to give rooms, and they had to wait for like 2 hours, and they didn't even to put baggage into baggage room ). Receptionist wasn't really friendly, I didn't like her. The guy, who was bringing our baggage to our room, he was really surly, he hardly was speaking Russian or English, but he shown us the main things. There was air conditionaires in rooms, they were working, not really good, but enough. Janitors come there every day and they put you shampoo, taking everyday towels, and replacing them new ones. Beds are comfortable, there's much space. Okay, then on.. Food.. Well, it's really tasty. There's all the time the swedish table, basically there's food for every food ration. You can choose there between really lot of food. There was no time, that I couldn't make my stomach full all the time. You can dont worry about that. There was all the time choise between much drinks. There's lot of juices, you can get sprite, fanta, cola, just as you wish. My mom only told me one problem of this hotel - You have to go every morning to bunks near swimming pool, and put your towels on them, that no one could take it. There's really funny staff in this place also ( not including the receptionists ). Every day we had like kid discos at 9.30PM, there was aerodinamics on the pool for women, also games for men in pools, there was dart contests, where you could win massages, or other prizes. There was also many games for kids, some kind of easier than darts, and also with prizes. There's like a small house in that hotel also, where adults can leave their kids, and Animation team works with em, doing some cool things, and other things:) Every night, before the sleep there was just another show. Every time another show, and they was really good. I liked them so much. Well if you are planning to go there, that's a pretty nice hotel, but I could rate it only 3.5/5. There's some problems, which you gotta...
Read moreUnlike the past years (we have been going to Star for 3 years), this time we were told upon arrival that we have no parking space, although there is at least one space, but it was for the "boss" ... as a result, we were put to unload the luggage on the beach, then my husband was taken to park the car over 1 km away, from where he returned on foot in a torrential rain... I received a parking space the next day after 1 pm, during which all our beach stuff was in the car. The parking space received was at the back door of access to the restaurant, where crates and merchandise were used. After two days the car was already scratched From the first evening the noise was infernal: I endured 4 music sources at the same time. The staff (including the "boss" rushed into the room without even knocking on the door... the restaurant staff were bored and unprofessional. I served dinner where I ordered lamb and beef... and both smelled of old meat. Honestly, we regret that after two years in which we felt honored with hospitality, now things have changed, although the prices have exploded. Goodbye...
