Borovets Green Hotel — Hotel in Samokov

Honestly, this place is OK. It could be better in several ways and all of them show a little bit of a lack of common sense/attention to detail. |The bad:|1. The curtain wasn't wide enough in the main bedroom so we had to use the bedspread to create a suitable-sized curtain to block the light in the mornings. |2. The rooms are a great size but we had to ask for chairs as only 1 was supplied for the table we had. |3. There is no mini fridge in the room - nothing major but it would have been nice.|4. The food was OK but VERY salty. Genuinely some nice food was supplied, better than we thought, at least, but it was very heavily seasoned. |5. The spa floor is plastic astroturf which traps the water and makes the room stink of very smelly feet. |6. The shuttle bus is too small. The driver is lovely but the bus fits 8 people at a time making the morning "commute" with your Skis a bit of a pain. |7. Bring hangars with you. There are not enough provided and there is not enough in the way of places to hang/air your clothes. |The good:|1. It's close to the town, a quick walk around the back of the hotel.|2. Stayed here feb 24 half term, the trip was booked just a few weeks before with limited choice of available hotels. We had a one bedroom suite which turned out to be an entrance hall way and two double bedrooms off. One of the rooms could be separated into twin beds if required. We stayed on floor 4 The furniture is a little dated and worn although perfectly functional, the shower had plenty of hot water. The food was the best half board I’ve experienced in Bulgaria with sufficient variety. The restaurant, bar and lobby are all one shared area. |There appears to be limited staff, however all were polite and courteous. The hotel is about a 15 min walk to the slopes with a shuttle bus running to and from the slopes, this may mean waiting during busy periods. Bad experience, enough to ruin your vacation. The staff at this hotel barely exists, the cleaning ladies are also waiters and the receptionist is also a barman. There are no safety measures, no one was wearing a mask, not even the owner of the hotel. The food was ok, but nothing special. |In the first two nights they gave us a room that was really modest: the furniture had at least 15 years, the bathroom was small and the shower didn't have a shower head. They also don't have a separate room for the restaurant, it's the same hall as the one you enter from outside. Breakfasts were horrible, because the food never changed and it was really plain.
