We stayed at the Victoria Hotel for a week while ski-ing with 6 of us in three rooms. We were originally offered a family room for 4, but two would have to sleep on pull-out beds so went for separate rooms.||Two of the rooms were away from the road. This may seem a good thing, but means the noise from the dogs is louder on that side and ear plugs may be a requirement.||Our room was facing the road and the barking was not so loud. We slept without ear plugs although we were woken at 3 am on the odd occasion by people arriving back from a night out.||There is no lift so suitcases have to be hauled up the stairs which can be a chore if a room is on the third floor.||Evening meals are a help yourself buffet with two bain-maries containing hot selections. Food was generally very good with the odd thing that was not to our liking, but with plenty of choice so not an issue.||Breakfast was also a buffet selection, again with two bain-maries containing a hot selection. With beans, eggs, sausage and hash browns it was almost an English fry-up. There was also a good continental selection of fruit, bread, yoghurt, ham and cheese.||We did have a couple of issues with our room - the shower started to fill up the bathroom with water as the drain was blocked (wet room set up). Any issues are quickly dealt with by the staff.||There's a very cosy lounge area with roaring fire and free sweets. This is also one of the areas with free wi-fi - the other being the restaurant. It seems odd that it must be paid for within the rooms.||Its quite a walk uphill all the way to the bars and gondola. We ended up getting a taxi each morning for 10 Lev.||Even with the odd little issue, we did enjoy our stay at the Hotel Victoria and have already booked to stay...
Read moreEnjoyed my stay at the peaceful Hotel Victoria which is set amongst a pine forest. I arrived late and kitchen was closed so they had packed me a thoughtful sandwich and fruit plus a water and this was given without request There was a bit of a language barrier, but staff were friendly and helpful and carried my bag to room, and offered me some of the home made cakes they were eating My room on the top floor was more of a suite with two bathrooms, lounge with sofa beds, dining tables etc. View of forest. Place was spotless with multiple towels and toiletries left. Adjustable radiators, which is unusual for Bulgaria, was handy particularly as they like very warm rooms. Tv in bedroom and lounge but mainly local TV programs Few niggles; hotel was a 10 minute uphill walk to gondola or 15 minutes to chair lift. Room had patchy wifi and poor 4g connectivity. No lift and i was on top floor. No daily housekeeping. Limited restaurant hours. Breakfast 8-10 and dinner 6-8! There were no cups, glass or kettle, plates/cutlery anywhere in suite which was odd particularly as had a large dining table. Would be helpful to have at least some basic items. The food was exceptional and I ate every dinner in hotel which I have never done in numerous trips to Bulgaria. I also don't think i have ever eaten so much in Bulgaria! I complimented them on their excellent homemade food and tipped accordingly Despite minor issues, the service, food, cleanliness and excellent value for money overcame any minor negatives. If WiFi was improved and room serviced daily, with additions suggested, would be 5*. Would definitely revisit if not just...
Read moreWe booked the Victoria having previously stayed at the samakov the season before.|Victoria is like a homely run family bed and breakfast , it is a good 15 minute walk uphill to the main town , however we did find a lively forest walk that was a shortcut and lit up of a evening .||Breakfast - good selection of cheese and meats , different eggs , toast beans etc||Dinner - always 2 meats , selection of veg and potatoes , salad , soup and breads and desserts .||The hotel has a sauna which we didn’t use , rooms were clean and clean towels every day , the bathrooms are wet rooms .||I was really poorly the last couple of days of my holiday and the staff in the hotel really looked after me , bringing toast up and organising a dr to visit me .|||I would absolutely recommend this hotel was so much more personal than the Samakov and food was so much better here . As long as you don’t mind the walk , which we didn’t ! ||Would definitely...
