Interhotel Sandanski — Hotel in Sandanski

We were warned by your staff when making the reservations that there are ongoing renovation activities in the hotel, but it was clarified that those are some final stage things that should not impact our vacation. However having heavy machines on the parking lot such as excavators, bulldozers, tractors and so on, I cannot agree that those are some final touches or cosmetic repairs. Not to mention all the dust in the air spreading like a fog and eventually covering all the cars in the area. On the inside several floors in the hotel were completely closed and the rooms there being renovated. There was no rest for the guys doing this and no proper planning of those activities – terrible noise starting from 8am till 7pm without a break; normally most of the people on vacation are trying to relax and get some sleep between 14:00 and 16:00 – in our case this was not possible regardless of the complaints we sent to reception. Nonstop drilling and grinding of the concrete walls with some serious tools – this is something that I am not going to forget anytime soon,

At the swimming pool there were plenty of insecure and empty umbrella holders that were quite rusty – our 2years old boy fall right on top of one of them, his chin severely bleeding because of the blood vessels in this area ending up in the local ER with an ambulance. The only positive thing here was the real professional approach of medical staff (how to do couple of stitches to 2 years old baby indeed). On a later stage the pool area was cleaned up a little bit from those holders, but the scar from the chin is not going to disappear so easily. Did I forget to mention about the tetanus vaccine ?

At the end there was one final surprise for us – when loading our luggage, we saw that our car is not only covered with huge amount of dust, but the whole right side was covered by plenty of white paint drops. Apparently somebody was assigned to paint the wall standing 50cm away from our car and instead of contacting us to move the car (they have recorded our phone and registration number), it was decided to speed up the process and trust in the painting brush within those 50cm to get the job done. When we tried to contact the hotel manager, but such person was not available as it was Saturday and he/she was on the way to Sofia – it seems there is no such thing as on-duty supervisor. What we were suggested was to “try to get it cleaned with water”. Well water didn’t help, so the insurance company will cover the cost  and hopefully they will contact you formally to settle the cost. Otherwise I need to cover this cost with more expensive...

The best option to stay in Sandanski. The hotel is in the city center just next to the park and next to the main pedestrian zone. Very comfortable when you are on holiday with kids. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The bed is huge and the mattress was very comfortable. The view to the river and the fountains in front of the hotel was great and the sound of the river and the fountains is perfect for sleeping. The restaurant on the first floor is renovated and not is a Mediterranean style. The food was good, however the lamb was not the beat option from the menu. The soufflé was delicious. The service is perfect. The restaurant was very calm and not overcrowded. The restaurant on the second floor where the breakfast is served is also renovated and now the atmosphere is modern. The variety of food for the breakfast is good. The are plenty of options to choose from. The swimming pool and the spa area is also very good. The pool is enormous and it is not over crowded during the weekdays. The medical center offers a lot of procedures medical and cosmetics. When visiting the place on holidays and during the weekend a reservation is always a good idea otherwise the schedule of the spa center is fully booked. The kids hall is huge with a lot of toys and activities for the kids. However we did not spend a lot of time there as the weather was perfect for the park. Our overall experience in the hotel...

Worst staff experience in a Hotel It was a family vacation, the hotel is great, pool and the spa are also very good, rooms are updated and new with great bathrooms, the hotel is in a great location in the city centre. One night we were at diner in the hotel, we paid extra because we were only BB. When we finished with the diner we called the bill and we asked the lady to put it on our room. She asked the room number, we told her and she left, after that she came back and told us that room number doesn't exist (that was my parents room), then we told her my room number and she left one more time. When she came back she told us that this room number also doesnt exist, we told her a third room number and when she came back she told us again that the room number also don't exist and we cannot pay on room. We ask her what happened and and why we cannot pay on the room, then she STARTED YELLING with high tone in front of the whole table with 8 people and children that we don't have room credit and that thing is new and we cannot pay on room. We told her to lower the voice because there are children on the table and its extremely rude to yell on costumers and she could have told us that in first place but she still was rude and unprofessional. I took a photo of the lady and i hope she will see this and regret her behaviour. A beautiful hotel like this cannot allow such behaviour...
