Merian Palas — Hotel in Stara Zagora

My recent stay at Merian Palace was an absolute nightmare! The rooms were horrific, outdated and disgusting with poor hygiene. The ACs were not working and we were not allowed to turn on the third one on the wall for some reason… The temperatures were record high in the city and the room was 40 degrees… As a result we barely had any sleep due to the unbearable heat and smell in the room. Hygiene was below any standards.

To make matters worse we ended up with food poisoning which was clearly made from old & stale food.

Lastly we enquired about the indoor pool and spa that was marketed and shown in all pictures. Unfortunately we were warned that its such disaster that we would break our legs of we try using it…

The place is a an absolute disaster from start to finish I strongly advise anyone to never waste their hard earned money to this disaster of a hotel.

This was by far the worst...

I was given room 404. The bed cover was old, with a large frayed hole. The bathroom was dirty, mildew fungi covered all the silicone covered gaps. The matress was old rickety and made 'bong' sounds sitting on the edge of the bed. Water leaked into the bathroom through from the tub to the concrete celing. The room TV, must be the smalest on the market. The 'free' internet did not work. The parking garage which I was charged 10$ per ruined the paint on my fancy vehicle. The pool was upstairs and it’s leaking thru the concrete ceiling in the parking garage and the chemicals made my car look like s..tpaint correction won’t fix it . Also the pool wasn’t operating and nobody from the staff couldn’t explain why Please stay away, avoid this very bad 'hotel', it is a disgusting smelly old dump. The Merian Palas is not suitable for business or tourist...

I understand the differences from country to country but this Hotel would not be rated with 2-3* nowhere in the world. I guess that because they claim to have a Spa (not seen), they think they can add one or two more stars to the rating.|Rooms have not being refurbished in the last 20 years (or at least they look like that) the beds are terrible and if you use the shower (not really a shower) you better Watch out when you get out as all the water would flees the whole bathroom. The bathroom does not have a heating system and when the temperature outside is close to freezing point it is very unpleasant to have a shower there.||The breakfast is terrible with no selection of almost anything, powder based orange juice, Nescafé instead of real coffee, etc, etc.|||First and last time at this...
