Samnak Lounge — Hotel in Siem Reap

What a great hotel! From the moment we arrived at Siem Reep airport and met Mao (hope that is spelt right) the service was excellent. we were driven the hour journey from the airport to the hotel, this was a free airport transfer the hotel offered. We were given water for the journey. We arrived at the hotel to a very warm welcome, we were bought refreshing drinks which were lovely This hotel had a very tranquil feeling to it. The pool area is almost lagoon like. We had a room on the ground floor next to the pool. The restaurant is also a very short walk away from the rooms and pool area. The room was very large and nicely decorated, the bathroom was also quite big. The air conditioning unit works well but is slightly noisy. The hotel also accommodated a second night stay for us at short notice, we were very grateful to them for this. The food was good and we dined here for the duration of our stay. Initially, we booked a twin deluxe room with direct pool access through Trip.com. The moment we arrived there, they gave us a free upgrade to King Suite Room with two king-size bed! Marvelous! They also provided free pick-up transfer from Siem Reap Angkor International Airport to the hotel (which is definitely a plus as the city centre located far away from the new airport (approximate 40 minutes drive from the airport). The hotel environment is stunning and serene! However, the water in the shower room does have some fishy smell. First of all the positive: large clean rooms and comfortable beds. The staff are also very friendly and attentive. Unfortunately, the pool was permanently brown/green at the time of our stay, which is why we avoided it - see pictures. Thus, the pool seems to have a particular function as a mosquito breeding ground. There were mosquitoes all over the grounds, so you couldn't even sit down at the breakfast table without mosquito spray!
