The entire experience was a disaster from beginning to end. First, the assistant GM contacted me through WhatsApp only three days before my stay to say there was an issue with the pool at Villa Indochine D’ Angkor and that they were going to change me to a sister hotel of the same category (4 stars). This was totally unfair, as I was travelling and didn’t have enough time to do research on Indra Angkor Residence nor book an alternative accommodation for a fair price given how close I was to the date of check-in. Having no choice, I accepted and had the most terrible experience at Indra Angkor Residence. First they gave me a room with dirty walls (photos attached) and a mattress so bad that I could feel the sprinkles on my back. It was also very loud because it was right next to the pool. I explained I have back issues and requested a change of room which they provided, however the new room was also terrible. The mattress was slightly better but too soft for my back. The worst part was that the AC didn’t work properly, so I could only use it on fan mode. During my stay there was a power outage and because I didn’t have proper AC I woke up at midnight all covered in sweat. In addition, the room didn’t have a safe and the front door didn’t close properly. Moreover, the cleaning service was terrible. First, they didn’t add enough toilet paper and I had to use Kleenex. Second, they forgot to clean my room one of the days and I had to go an ask them to do it when it was past 2pm. I explained all of the above to the staff and they didn’t even apologise nor make an attempt to fix the situation and improve the quality of my stay. Also I don’t think it’s fair that Indra Angkor Residence has four stars given how terrible the service is. The breakfast is not buffet and all the options are full of carbs with only a tiny portion of fruits being provided.

Location - a bit secluded from the centre but not by much. Good for someone who enjoys privacy i.e away from crowd noise. Still accessible to attractions via short tuktuk ride. Located in a more local area than tourist area. Facilities - Hotel is on the smaller side and this also extends to the facilities (pool, dining area). Visible wear & tear and some outdated furnishings, however generally well kept & clean. Please note that the hotel doesn't have an elevator. Service - All staff members are welcoming and friendly, though for breakfast you kind of have to alert them to your presence since the counter is on the lower floor and dining on the upper. Breakfast - included in my room rate. made to order, ala carte style with 4 set menu to choose from. limited bread basket spread and free flow of coffee/tea/juice/milk/water. Taste wise it's a hit & miss, but generally decent. Room - Stayed for a few nights in King Suite Room located on the lowest floor facing the pool. Slightly confusing to understand room lock system, and the lock may feel a bit insecure for some. Basic amenities provided i.e TV (with decent # channels incl English) mini fridge, wardrobe, refreshment, hairdryer & basic safe box (using padlock, not digital). Toiletries provided is basic: handwash, bodywash, shampoo & no dental kit. Room itself is spacious, some furnishing have seen better days. The mattress is medium firm, the pillows are soft-medium. AC works fine but takes a bit of time to feel the breeze. Only 1 mirror in the entire room (in the bathroom). The toilet comes with a bidet. Standard sized bathtub and good water pressure with heater. TLDR; overall a decent, no fuss, good value stay of a bit outdated but well kept hotel with good service near Siem Reap town.

I first discovered this place when I visited a friend who was staying there. I noticed the pool and thought it looked like a nice spot, so I decided to come back with another friend just to swim and relax. Unfortunately, the experience was really disappointing. Even though it wasn’t busy, the staff didn’t bother to clean up properly. Most of the sunbeds still had dirty towels, plates, and used glasses from previous guests, and no one came to clear them—we had to do it ourselves. When our food and drinks arrived, the server placed them right next to an old glass, and I accidentally poured my coke in and drank from it, thinking it was mine. We also left two slices of pizza covered with napkins to keep flies away since it was a lot at that time- while we swam, but the staff threw it away without asking us if we were done. It even started raining during our visit, and the staff didn’t remove the menus from the table—they just left them there. As someone who works in hospitality industry, I was really surprised by the lack of care. Even if it’s low season, every guest should feel welcome and taken care of.

Dishonest staff - No Hot Water!

Beware before booking. I saw the great reviews and was convinced. I have written a “negative” review on Agoda and they decided to not publish it.

The hotel picked us up from the airport which was great. Paid $29 USD. No problems with that, the driver was nice.

We checked in and they gave us a cold towel and a drink which was great.

We checked into the room. As we had been travelling for quite a while, we instantly went to have a shower. We quickly realised that there was no hot water. We didn’t mind, as it was super hot in Siem Reap but we thought we would let the staff know and to fix the issue after the shower.

The receptionist staff came up to test the water, and confirmed that there was no hot water after running it for 5 minutes straight. He said that he couldn’t do anything about it that night and we would have to wait until tomorrow morning to get it fixed by the plumber.

We thought this was unfair as we paid $50 for this room and one cold shower was OK, but a second one in the morning would be quite uncomfortable.

We messaged Agoda who followed up for us. Agoda came back to us and stated that they had contacted the hotel and the reception staff had denied any issues with the hot water for our room.

This was a blatant lie. Extremely dishonest and unethical. As a result, Agoda said they couldn’t do anything about it as the hotel had denied any problems and because we had physically gone down to tell them about the issue instead of messaging through the app, there was no communication trace.

Please be aware of this hotel. I believe the other reviews are AI generated and fake.

The location was awkward and uncomfortable too. It was a nice hotel but next door there was slums of poor families and you would have to walk past them to get to the main road.

I extremely advise against this hotel. There are better hotels with better locations in Siem...
