Popular Residence was a great base for our visit to Siem Reap and Angkor. Everything went smoothly - from the pick up at the airport, to Brown's attentive service and local recommendations - thanks Brown. It was a pleasure to meet you, and we hope you get better soon!
There's drinking water in the rooms, and reception are happy to refill the water (and our water bottles) whenever required. This was a real bonus for us as we try to use as little plastic as possible when we're on the road. The breakfast was great - you order from a menu containing Western options, and some local options. We had a cooked breakfast and pancakes - both were very good. You can help yourself to pastries and fruit, tea and coffee. On the day we did a sunrise tour of Angkor, the hotel packed up some breakfast for us.
We had some laundry done and it was honestly the best smelling laundry that we've had in 5 months of travelling. It also looked like it had been pressed too, which was an added bonus. Definitely worth the $2 per kg.
We made use of the treadmill and weights on the top floor, it's not a fully kitted our fitness centre, but the addition of a place to workout, and some equipment was an added bonus for us.
I'd definitely recommend staying at the hotel. It's great value considering all of the above, the pool, and our room was gorgeous (complete with a fridge, kettle, bath, and rain shower). You'll feel very well...
Read moreThis was my husband and I’s favorite hotel experience since we started our travels 6 weeks ago (Thailand & Cambodia so far). So much so, we extended twice. The front desk hospitality staff were beyond helpful, welcoming and easy to communicate with. We really appreciated Mr. Brown & Khim (who assisted us most) with arranging transportation. refilling our water bottles, & arranging our Angkor Archaeological Park tour. They also helped us with our Khmer :)
Get the 3 day pass (which you have 10 days to use, so we took some days between “Temple Hopping” to relax at the hotel). We recommend touring by tuk-tuk everyday, especially if you are a travel couple or small friend groups of 4 or less. If you are thinking about it, go now. So much less tourist than normal.
Mr. Brown, Khim and Tuk-Tuk driver, Punh, we highly recommend. Housekeeping was great. The gym upstairs is super simple, but it’s a nice spot for the sunset and sunrise. Breakfast was awesome, made to order off a fixed menu with a little buffet. WiFi was good, one way transport provided into town 5-9pm, a/c worked fine and we didn’t utilize the spa.
There is construction next door that never bothered us, though they do start early. We would absolutely come back to Popular Residence, especially to do the 7 day pass that you have a month to...
Read moreA Hidden Gem in Siem Reap – Highly Recommended!
The Calm Oasis in Siem Reap is truly a hidden gem. Located just outside the town center, the hotel offers convenient transportation to the main hub of the city, making it the perfect peaceful retreat without being too far from the action.
As a solo traveler, I had an exceptional stay. The rooms are spacious, spotless, and equipped with all the amenities you could ask for. The breakfast was delicious, and the added perk of free airport pick-up made the experience even more enjoyable.
What truly made my stay unforgettable, however, was the staff. They went above and beyond in making me feel welcome and at ease. Mr. Pé, the manager, was incredibly thoughtful and dedicated to ensuring I felt comfortable and safe throughout my visit. As a solo traveler, this was very important to me. The staff was always friendly and eager to help, Mr Pé offering to personally accompany me to a local computer store to fix my tablet.
The hotel’s pool was a lovely spot to unwind after a day of sightseeing, and I thoroughly enjoyed the combination of relaxation and adventure that Siem Reap offers.
I can’t recommend The Calm Oasis highly enough – it was a fantastic stay, and I would absolutely return. Thank you all staff...
