Still reeling from the amazing stay we had at Eightfold Urban Resort this summer. From the pickup to the drop-off, everything was top-notch and heartfelt.

5 million stars!!

Me and my 5yo can never look at a hotel stay the same way again after having had the privilege of spending two amazing nights at Eightfold Urban Resort. It’s ruined us forever.

Memorable Moments: The tuk tuk driver carrying a sign with your name on it The welcome drink and banana chips The personal concierge who asks how you’re doing and if there’s anything they can do to help with your stay The rooms with pool access My kid relearning how to swim after spending on-average 6 hours in the pool every day and being inspired by the six-year-old staying next door to us.

While outside of the city center, the resort is a restful, plant-filled haven. When I was considering hotels for a two-night stay in Siem Reap, I kept coming back to Eightfold, and I’m so glad we ended up there!

They pick you up from the airport free of charge, and also provide complimentary evening tuk tuk service 6p-11p. The restaurant and cafe are lovely and serve up delicious eats for an average of ~$5/item, and room service is included.

Definitely make sure to get a Deluxe Pool-Access Room. While a little pricier than the basic room option (which I’m sure would’ve been just fine, as well, as the interiors were modern, clean, and well-maintained!), having such easy access to the pool and our own little poolside seating area/balcony was amazingly convenient. It saved us from wasting time going from the pool to our room and back again whenever we forgot or needed something. Plus the views are amazing.

Okay, can we talk about this pool? The pool of my dreams would look exactly like the one at Eightfold. The plants provide some lovely shade and respite from the bright sun. Especially great for my little one was that even though the central portions of the pool were a little too deep at a little less than five feet, there were plenty of stairs and shallow areas from which she could take swimming breaks.

Best of all, the staff (literally everyone) are so kind and attentive, and our personal concierge Harry went above and beyond helping make our stay as comfortable as possible--checking in on us via WhatsApp, making great recommendations for where to get kid’s swimming goggles (which came in clutch considering all the hours we spent at the pool), requesting late check-out on our behalf, and upgrading us from a tuk tuk to legit car service. He even accompanied us to the airport after a manager and a handful of other staff waved us goodbye, chatting with us about our stay and even gifting us with Cambodian scarves for the journey home, which made my 5-year-old and I feel so special and welcome. WOWOWEE we felt like such VIPs!

As someone who values experiences over material things, staying at Eightfold has been the best couple hundred dollars I’ve spent in the last ...? Run, do not walk, to Eightfold Urban Resort. A true 5-star experience we were lucky to have!

The one con I would say is that the walls were slightly thin; we could hear our neighbors talking loudly and also the frogs croaking outside, lol. But that’s easily solved with some earplugs or white noise! Another wishlist item is having some a la carte breakfast pastries or snacks available, as I’m not a heavy breakfast eater but do love something to accompany my mid-morning coffee.

Thank you, Eightfold, for the hospitality!! Excited to do a write-up on our blog...

We had a lovely time. We stayed only for two nights as we were travelling to a different country afterwards but it would have been lovely if we stayed longer.

I never write reviews but this was the first time I felt like it was really worth sharing our experience. (Bare with me it's a long one.)

Airport Shuttle: We took the airport shuttle and Danit was very friendly and the car ride was smooth.

HOTEL: When we arrived at the hotel they gave us a delicious welcoming drink (I think it was a lemonade) whilst they got our paperwork ready.

They assigned a personal assistant to the guests, ours was Jenny and she shared a lot of information and advise with us about what to see in the city and for our visit to Angkor Wat.

On our evening before check out, we were offered a complementary dinner of local cuisine with local ingredients which was very VERY tasty. I reccomend the dragon fruit or pineapple lemonade as they were delicious! So was the Cambodia beer. Drinks were not included but are very affordable.

They will check with you, but make extra sure to let them know if you have any allergies. Tip: If you are allergic or lactose intolerant, the soy milk has 2% powder milk.

All the hotel staff were very kind and polite and honestly it felt very genuine. They were all super attentive. At the beginning of our complementary dinner the manager had so come and greeted us.

TOUR: For Angkor Wat we went for the sunrise instead of the sunset and I strongly recommend it. You'd have to wake up early but it's worth it in my opinion. The hotel will provide you with a breakfast bag to go (you'd need to let them know first) which you can take with you and have whilst watching the sunrise. You can book the tuk tuk provided by the hotel which will take you to the temple tour.

However, I would DEFINITELY encourage to book a guide (via the hotel) especially if you are interested in history and if you only have a day. (Its completely optional of course.) Our guide, Naan was amazing. He is a local guide and had so much knowledge to share with us. He was also taking us through the temples whilst showing us the best places to take pictures to have the best light and view which would often be away from any crowd making the whole experience more special. He would take pictures of us with our camera that honestly looked amazing!! My partner loves history and was asking all kinds of questions, which Naan was able to respond to. They were giving us cold water between each temple to keep hydrated.

Tips (for the tour):

  1. Bring a hat with you and wear a mosquito repelant.
  2. Wear sneakers and long light trousers if it's summer. It's also good to be mindful of attire as it's a religious site, but also to protect from the sun.
  3. It's better to avoid days when it's rainy and windy as the rocks could be slippery. Also in some of the temples if its windy and rainy they might not want you to go in as the foundation might be unstable.
  4. Avoid the weekend as the locals and neighbouring countries might be also visiting and it would be very busy (we went on Monday and...
