We booked this venue for our Daughter & her Fiancé’s wedding October 8, 2024. It is a beautiful location. ||A week - 2 weeks before the wedding we were informed the golf course was being treated and would not be available. After expressing our disappointment since the opportunity to use the golf course was one of the reasons we were happy to book this venue we were told some of our guests could use certain areas of the golf course. ||We arrived October 7th/24 in the late afternoon and were instructed to moved our flowers and bride’s bouquet into a cooler close to the venue. The day of the wedding we were setting up the tables & decor and found some of the flowers were missing. ||Even though we arrived on October 7th, we were not allowed to set up tables & decor (even though the space was not in use) until 10am the morning of the wedding on October 8th. There wasn’t anything booked in the venue the evening before so I do not understand the reason for not allowing set up the night before. ||We’d booked the Rose Room for the bride and her mom, groom’s mom, Aunties & cousins to get ready the day of the wedding. While getting ready we were informed we needed to remove all our belongings and vacate the room by 4pm!! The wedding ceremony started at 4pm!!! |Ridiculous!!||We were informed a few days before the wedding that because we did not book all of the rooms at the Inn (I believe there are 3-4 rooms) We were expected to remove & clean up all the decorations set up for the wedding by 8:30 pm. This was upsetting for my husband and I, the parents of the bride. We couldn’t enjoy the dinner and evening knowing we soon had to race around and dismantle / clean up everything we’d carefully set up for this beautiful occasion just a few hours earlier that day. Thankfully the new management offered an assistant to help set up & coordinate decorating. |Even though the venue was not booked for the following morning. I was incredibly stressed and disappointed by the venues expectations!!! ||So I would not recommend this venue if you do not book all of the rooms in the Inn. We were told if we’d booked all the rooms we would not have had to clean up by 8:30pm!!! ||I thought the dinner was delicious! However, my daughter informed me the veggies to accompany the main entree was not what her and her fiancé requested. ||There unfortunately was a change in administration between the booking of the venue and the actual day of the wedding. The manager my daughter and her fiancé spoke to concerning their requests regarding alcohol concerned it would be fine to have 2 bottles of wine at each table, no hard liquor and the availability of nonalcoholic drinks eg pop & Bubbly plus some Coolers in a fridge at the bar. At the wedding there was no wine (we paid for) placed on the tables, there were no non-alcohol drinks and there was an open bar so guests needed to pay for their drinks including buying wine/hard liquor. ||There were 3 children but the final receipt showed we were charged for one child guest and 21 adult guests. My daughter tried to explain this to the current manager but we were unable to meet in person to resolve the discrepancy. I would suggest if you have any concerns you address them before leaving the venue. It’s disappointing when their manager does not take your concerns seriously!! |It was an exciting day and our daughter & her fiancé looked awesome on their special day. I’m just disappointed after all the planning the venue wasn’t able to meet our expectations. ||Thom &...
Read moreI booked our 2 night stay back in January 2022 for the pet friendly rustic cabin. I was really excited for our stay and thought I got a good deal at $399 a night plus a $100 resort credit, bottle of wine and $80 food credit. A few days before our stay I was informed of the construction that was happening right next to our cabin and so they said they would give us 25% off but no longer a $100 credit which still saved us some extra money ($299 a night). But even after getting it for that price I did not find it worth it. The room was run down (bathroom door difficult to close/lock, kitchen sink faucet falling apart and even fell off on our last day. While the bed and toilet were clean I did find the rest of the place not up to my standards considering this is usually a $499 a night room. There were previous customers long hairs everywhere, my dog kept finding things on the ground from the previous stay that he would lick at, the mirrors were dusty and shower had spider webs above. I also noticed that the jacuzzi had small dead flies in it. We were warned that the construction was outside our place and it really was. Our back porch was pretty much attached to the construction site and they started work at 7:30am instead of the 8am start we were told. After coming back from a hike (one we found off the resort as the one trial they had on the resort was very short), we were locked out of our room. The door pad no longer worked and we had a tee time booked to get to. The receptionist came fairly quickly to unlock it manually but did not have a spare key for us to use until it was fixed. We didn't feel comfortable leaving our dog their while the maintenance person tried to fix it so we had to delay our tee time until the maintenance man was able to sort it out (luckily there was another tee time available since it was on a week day in the early afternoon). I will say that all the staff were friendly and the food at the clubhouse was pretty good but again a bit overpriced. The one good thing I did enjoy was the wood burning fireplace, however the chairs in front of the firepit were not clean and old so I used blankets to sit on them. They definitely need to update those chairs. Overall I would not stay there again as it was way overpriced and...
Read moreI wanted to love this place, I really did. Rowena’s markets themselves as this beautiful grand estate when in reality it is very shabby and run down and could use a good thorough clean. The pictures on the website of the interior of the cabins were not at all accurate.
There were cobwebs all inside the cabin and the outside was filthy and could use a yearly power wash at the very least. The window cranks were practically coming out of the woodwork. The blinds were stained, there were burnt out light bulbs and a lot of the dimmer switches were missing their caps. The window in the bathroom was so dirty on the outside you could barely see through it and the bug screens were just disgusting all around the cabin and clearly need to be soaked and cleaned at least once a year.
There is no mention that the cabins are literally in the middle of the golf course. Golfers were standing about 6 feet away from our windows when we arrived which does not convey peace or privacy. It got windy at night and the trees around the cabin smacked the roof aggressively and loudly all night long and caused a sleepless night for both of us, these should be trimmed. The restaurant was awful, don’t even get me started. Will post a review separately on their site. Food and service bad!
They had San Pellegrino in the fridge that was complimentary which was nice, but they also had a bottle of wine from Chaberton which literally tasted like sugar water and was undrinkable. You should stop giving free wine and start saving money to bring this place up to the standard it should be considering it’s location, beauty and history. Over $300 a night, definitely not worth it and way overpriced. The bed was comfy but the duvet cover looks ancient and has probably barely been cleaned. Fresh crisp white linens as the pictures showed would have been much nicer. There was barely a check in or out service, the front desk is only open 9-5, and they screwed up our bill which we had to phone to fix.
This place was not at all what we expected given the website and was a huge let down. Being bought by a large company made me think they would pour money into it to bring it up to snuff but so far this has...
