The traffic is not delineated, in/out from the changing rooms, there is no consideration for bare foot traffic, you are coming in and out from the changing rooms on the same hallway, regardless you are coming from the parking lot or pool. It should be unidirectional, but once you pass the entry tourniquets it is a free for all. You get in through the same door that you must use if you are coming out from the pool. It is filthy, disgusting, muddy. The pools were closed at the end of summer for “renovations”. They were reopening on the Oct long weekend with the same gunk at the water line. They weren’t even cleaned! There was a new coat of paint at the bottom, but the very same old broken and missing tiles on the walls, the same old gunk at the water line. This establishment needs serious refurbishment, enclosed hallway from changing rooms to pool, swimsuits drying machines (which disappeared in the last year). I was expecting to see gone that grotesque mountain from the hot pool, to see serious reno done, but pretty much nothing done. an extra coat of painting and a couple of rubber walkways. It is outrageous expensive for what it offers, low key experience, some kind of cheap outdoor pool vibe, nothing like the other hot springs in the area. I hope the new ownership will move to the right direction, but I seriously doubt that will happen. There is huge potential there, but it seems that the existing flow of customers is just good enough for management to be content with “one coat of painting reno” kind of thing and move on to the next season. The same strategy was applied for the last 36 years and you can see it now, it is like in the ‘80s, no improvements. Pretty much they lost me as a customer, I don’t enjoy driving to other places, but if this is what it takes to have a nice pool, clean changing rooms, yeap, I will drive...
Read moreWe were not hotel guests at the resort but had dinner at the pub on the patio which was great. We arrived at pools our 6 pm on a Monday night and it was quite quiet. Location is absolutely lovely surrounded by mountains. For the $20 per person "membership" fee that we were charged we were left disappointed. There was a $5 extra charge per towel and no water fountains to fill up our water bottles. The young lady at the check- in did offer to fill our bottles at no charge, however I did not get the impression this was standard procedure. Given the heat of the pool I see this as a health hazard if water is not readily available (without cost). It leaves a bad taste to be nickle and dimed like this. Many other hotsprings we have visited have a cold "polar plunge" pool or at minimum a cold shower readily available outside by the hot pool. Also, tokens for the lockers would be a good idea rather than another loonie out of our pockets! We would have been totally happy to pay $20 per person if it was all inclusive of the above items mentioned. Overrated in our opinion based...
Read moreI grew up going to the Fairmont pool for yeaaaaaaars and to see what it has turned out to be like now, is gut wrenching and heartbreaking. The admission rates are insanely expensive (for way less than what they used to have/offered). The grassy area where you would normally sit to enjoy your time has been downsized by 75% and sectioned off with some tacky fencing. There are no more diving boards/dive tank. The awesome "baby pool" which used to be in the middle of the hot pool, has now been replaced with some fake, pointless mountain that you can't touch or sit on. The amount of food options served at the concession is slim to none (sorry, they have nasty hot dogs for $6... and no fries) so make sure to pack a lunch. They used to have THE BEST poutine ever 😞
It's sad to see how high the prices have increased, yet so much has been taken away. I definitely will not be going ever again and most certainly do not recommend it. Such a...
