Antlers at the lodge — Restaurant in Area F (Columbia Lake/Windermere Lake)

On Christmas day (Dec 25, 2019), I was expecting to have a fabulous 3 set course dinner at Antlers served at the Fairmont. I have been at many Fairmont hotels in the past and it was always enjoyable. I was very surprise how it ended. This was such a bad experience that I felt I had to write to Fairmont directly.

We had a 6:45pm reservation at Antlers at the lodge. When we arrived at the restaurant, unfortunately the table wouldn’t be ready due to the late arrival of the party prior to mine. I was frustrated because I had called into the restaurant twice that day to confirm the table/ time and both times, I was assured everything is confirmed. The restaurant actually opened up the table in the lobby for us immediately. They had set the table, and we were fine with it and felt grateful.

First course did not come out until 1 hr later, the main course, most of the people had beef tenderloin, but the portions were all different. Some plates had more than the others, some didn’t get enough. All the roasted vegetables were still raw. It was hardly even cooked. Then came the dessert, the dessert was supposed to be pumpkin pie with vanilla bean ice-cream. But instead, it was pumpkin pie with strawberry ice cream. It would of been nice of the waitress were to advise us this change before serving to us. The dessert was not pleasant and we would much rather not have the dessert that was served.

Overall, this was the worst restaurant experience I’ve ever encountered and I would not recommend anyone...

We almost avoided this restaurant due to the poor reviews, which are totally unwarranted. I started with the chick pea, curry vegetable soup which was excellent. Beef Tenderloin was amazing, tenderloin and vegetables all cooked to perfection, quite possibly the best I’ve ever eaten. My spouse had the grilled salmon and she said it was also amazing. We finished the meal off with cheesecake and that too was excellent. Meal was a little pricey but I did not go there looking for a bargain.I went there to enjoy a top notch meal, and that is what you will enjoy at Antlers. Service from all staff members was great. The Farmers breakfast bowl , was advertised as filled with peppers , onions , mushrooms and tomatoes . The veggies were cut so small that when I received it , they were cooked to oblivion . Not only that , but a PILE of grease and oil filled the bottom of my dish. The service was fine , the waitress was apologetic and didn’t charged me my plate .
