Ceilidh Country Lodge: A Trip Back to the 90s, and Not in a Good WayIf you're considering a stay at the Ceilidh Country Lodge, let me save you the trouble: don't. This establishment is a prime example of how to grossly overprice a product while delivering a service and aesthetic that feels like a forgotten relic from the early 1990s. The only reason you should ever darken its doors is if it's the dead of night, you're stranded, and the alternative is sleeping in your car. Even then, I'd seriously consider the car. From the moment you step inside, the overwhelming impression is one of severe neglect and a complete lack of modern comfort. The decor is jarringly outdated, making you question if any renovations have occurred since the first Gulf War. For the exorbitant rates they charge, one expects at least a semblance of contemporary standards, but what you get is a tired, worn-out facade that offers absolutely no value for money. The air conditioning unit in the room isn't just old; it's a testament to forgotten technology, wheezing and groaning with a distinct, unpleasant, musty odor. It's the kind of smell that clings to your clothes and makes you wonder about the last time, if ever, it saw a cleaning. Forget about a refreshing night's sleep; you'll be too busy trying to air out the room. The staff are equally disappointing. Far from being welcoming or helpful, they come across as utterly impolite and unhelpful. Simple requests seem to be met with a sigh or a vacant stare, as if your presence is an inconvenience. The front desk staff are particularly egregious, lacking any semblance of professionalism. They look as though they've just rolled out of bed and into the lobby, giving the distinct impression that they'd rather be anywhere but assisting guests. Their demeanor only amplifies the feeling that this lodge simply doesn't care about its patrons. And then there's the continental breakfast. Oh, the continental breakfast. Prepare for a culinary low point. The orange juice is so watered down it barely qualifies as flavored liquid, and the bread is unmistakably old, bordering on stale. As for the coffee, it's a sad, anemic brew so weak and devoid of flavor, it tastes like it was brewed not just yesterday, but perhaps two days ago. It's a breakfast that actively discourages you from eating, forcing you to seek sustenance elsewhere. In summary, the Ceilidh Country Lodge is a colossal disappointment. It is extremely overpriced for the abysmal quality and non-existent service it provides. Save your money, save your sanity, and book another hotel at all costs. This place is a last resort, and I mean...
Read moreSo we were on a family road trip and we had camping plans all along but it started raining. We looked around for rooms and decided to go for this one, around 150 after taxes we thought it looked quite cute from the outside and the price was nice so we took it. We went into the room, which was awful to open with the key but it’s fine. When we opened it there was a weird old mildew smell and absolutely no accommodations such as a fridge, kettle or even a microwave. We called and they told us to come down get it at the main house. We decided that we wouldn’t keep the room as it didn’t quite suit our taste and thought about discussing it with the reception for refund, we hadn’t touched the room yet. Well I personally wasn’t there but my mom called me to come in because she wouldn’t give a refund. I come in to the old lady yelling no no no she won’t hear a word from us whatsoever. We explained that we wouldn’t even take all the money just find a common ground she wouldn’t listen at all. That we were the ones looking for “cheap rooms” and came and looked at the room, there’s no way she would refund us. We told her she could examine the room and she wouldn’t hear anything from us and kept yelling! Didn’t want to ask why we weren’t satisfied or anything. Just big no’s, yelling and walking away. Customers arrived at she talked to them fast and they looked at us funny. She would just shake her head at my mom which did not have the best English (we were from Quebec but are Asians). The staff was nice though she offered us to use their microwave in the dinning room and told us she couldn’t do much which is understandable. The lady who claims being the boss/manager (I don’t think it’s the same thing but well) keeps ignoring us so we go back to the room. We opened the windows to air it (which we had a hard time doing). There was two seemingly dead flies on ceiling (see picture 2), stains on the carpet and walls, stains on the bedsheets (took one picture p3) and creepy/weird hand prints on the mirror (picture 1). We could hear the people upstairs and on the other side of the wall walking and using the water. We have stayed in older motels and really great one but the worst here was the attitude that we received, no openness to discussion, kept yelling and treated us as bothersome. Should’ve read the comments on the motel before, the appearance outside fooled us. Props to the one staff girl for staying nice although this was quite an uncomfortable and awkward situation for her. Old lady seemed nice but won’t deal with us the moment a problem arises. Definitely do not recommend and would...

DO NOT STAY HERE ...RUDE, DIRTY, SMELLS LIKE MILDEW, ROOMS ARE FALSELY ADVERTISED, NOT PET FRIENDLY, AFTER CONFIRMING PETS WERE ALLOWED THEY CLAIMED TO HAVE A FLEA INFESTATION SO AS TO NOT ALLOW PETS.
If I could give -1000000 stars I would!!!
First off the section we stayed in, the lower section, was old and smelled like mildew and there were stains on the carpet. Besides the mildew smell there was some other smell in the room that aggravated my asthma, I spent the night coughing and needing to take my spray. We had 3 rooms and they were all really old and gross. THE ROOMS ARE NOT WHAT IS BEING ADVERTISED ON THE WEBSITE!!!!
We called one day to confirm they were pet friendly and the woman told us 100% they were, we called again the next day and were told by the same woman that the owner now didn't want pets because some of the rooms were infested with fleas due to dogs that had stayed there. Their website says pet friendly and we had confirmed the day before that they were indeed pet friendly, the woman got upset and said fine she would let us bring our pets and that it was fine she would just get fired for it.
Like I said before, when we showed up to our rooms we were shocked!!!
When we talked to the woman the next morning about the rooms she was extremely rude and started yelling at us, claiming she had accommodated us for something we never asked for. She yelled at a 25 year old and talked to her like a child in front of other customers.
These people have no customer service skills, lie about the rooms they are offering, try to blame the customer for the gross and dirty rooms, then when you make a complaint they belittle, yell and talk down to you.
We were not the only ones who had complaints, 2 other people staying in the same section as us packed up and left because the rooms smelled so bad.
We also found out some information about how they treat their staff, the rules they have in place when it comes to cleaning the rooms and the breakfast... let's just say that it made us want to get out of there even faster and scrub ourselves down...
