it sounds like ownership changed in the last few years - I would be wary of the older reviews and the average this place gets**

Stayed during a music festival. Upon a generous 2pm check-in, we entered the clean room, albeit very outdated and full of houseflies. We had 4 friends staying and 2 friends were staying at a booked campsite nearby. When we left to attend the music festival, the business owner left a VERY unprofessional and angry email and voicemail accusing us of having 6 overnight guests (All 6 were getting ready in the cottage, not staying overnight). We assured her this was not the case and went about our way, sure to already never stay in such a place again. In the morning, our friends that stayed in a campsite nearby came to shower as it was extremely cold overnight. A few hours later (Long after they already departed) the owner started banging on the door. I answered to hear her berate me for 5 minutes (I had ni idea who this person was) and threaten to throw us out at night and call the police. I was absolutely flabbergasted as we only had 4 overnight guests. She berated us for getting a deal that allowed us to stay in an off-season rate (it was September and we reserved in Feb - if that was a mistake, it has nothing to do with us). She threatened to call the police (I was calm and non-confrontational). This was extremely distressing to some guests, who said they no longer felt safe in this place. I did what I could to reassure her and calm her down (she was obviously having a rough time) and she eventually left, after demanding I pay 50 for each of the "extra guests". I went to checkout the next day and she informed me that she accidently reversed what we already paid and now we needed to pay in full yet again. What's funny here is that on the bill, she had already signed "signature on file" although we had no idea this had happened - bank will investigate now. I can not recommend avoiding this...

Absolutely TERRIBLE experience!!! STAY AWAY from these cottages. What was supposed to be a fun weekend away for a concert was absolutely trampled on as we felt threatened every time we walked onto their property!!! Threatened me with saying “no visitors” during my stay. What? Not allowed to have someone drop in to drop something off? Inside the cabin the “rules sheet” explained you’re allowed to have visitors from 7am-11pm. Not to mention, our cabin could sleep 6 people minimum and there was only myself and my fiancee staying there. How does that make sense? Better yet it was supposed to be us and another couple who had to back out last minute - so she expected there to be 4 of us at the cottage at all times anyways! My friend came to the cottage to drop something off in the middle of the day and was there for maybe 10 minutes, and when I see her (the owner) a few hours later, she states; “I told you no visitors, you’re lucky I was not here.” I just don’t understand the harsh intent. Also, on our 2nd last day, she knocks on the cottage door waiting for me to answer, comes into our cottage without me really saying it was okay to do so. Changes our garbages (which didn’t need to be changed), wakes up my fiancee (it was 10 in the morning) and says to us in a stern and abrupt tone whilst leaving our cottage “you better behave yourselves tonight, check out no later than 10 tomorrow morning.” To be honest, I hated everything about this experience and I will never ever be back. We were loyal customers for 6 years, every summer we booked with them for the Cavendish Beach Music Festival. This was when the elderly mother ran the inn, sweet lady who went out of her way to ensure everyone was happy. After she passed away her daughter took over and informed us unless we booked for a full week we were not welcome to stay there for CBMF anymore. She was so concerned with making extra money she forgot (or did she ever have) good customer service. Asked her if we could negotiate to 5 days she said flat out no. This business will not last.
