Food was just ok. I ordered the platter which had a value no where near the 30$ price mark in our opinion. They fed me (4x) jumbo shrimp portion was decent and the marinara was great. My 3oz fish portion was small comparing to my daughter’s portion it was good but small. The scallops were miniatures which is a real shame coming from a fishmonger area. One of mine back home could have been carved into four of theirs. The breading is delicious though. Overall left me hungry with little drive to participate any further for desert. Wife chose a pasta but had to add 8$ 4oz ish lobster to it as there were very little options. It was just meh but that’s subjective. She was hoping for Alfredo sauce but what was served wasn’t that and it didn’t really pair well with the meal. The kids meal was fine and my daughter enjoyed it. The lady server served us forgot my daughter’s drink so we had to chase another down. There wasn’t anything extravagant about the service other than watching her play with her hair and walking around. The site was rustic and had some seaworthy charm but the ramp area needs some shrub attention (kind of overtook the ramp). The men’s washroom area had the faucets on backwards as they’re supposed to turn into the sink area not get snagged into the back splash. Place certainly has potential but I think a small evaluation of portion size would go a long way. Plenty of other competition in the area.

First time customer and it was absolutely the best part of PEI! It was recommended by my family who visited this restaurant from Ottawa last summer and it lived up to my high expectation! Their seafood chowder is a must try. Best chowder I’ve ever had. It was super creamy and had lots of seafood in it whereas other restaurants have very watery and bland chowder. We ordered boiled and baked lobsters and they were so tender, juicy and seasoned perfectly. The corn was also in season so it was so juicy! We found PEI dishes to be quite bland but that wasn’t an issue here. Mussels were also quite big and fresh. I went to another famous seafood restaurant in PEI the other day and was very disappointed by their quality because Cavendish Lobster Shack food set a higher expectation for me. We also tried their Bacalao (I think) which is a Spanish dish made with fried fish with tomato sauce and it was delicious! The owners came by to explain the dish to us, which was very helpful. The fish was crispy but the tomato sauce added the softness to the dish. The staff were super friendly and helpful. It is a family owned restaurant so some of their kids were helping out over the summer as well. It is located super close to the Cavendish beach so it was convenient for us post-beach day. I would highly recommend this place to my friends and family and will definitely come back again next time!!

It’s been several years since I visited PEI and I always look forward to the fresh seafood available. This time, we decided to visit this restaurant after hearing glowing reviews from friends and family. We ordered several items from the menu, starting off with probably the best seafood chowder we’ve ever had. It was very creamy and well seasoned whereas other chowders I’ve had were either too watery or too salty. Afterwards, we were served a large bucket of fresh mussels with melted butter on the side - the mussels were very clean without a lot of sand that oftentimes comes with mussels. The big spotlight was on the two types of lobsters that we ordered - one baked lobster with melted cheese and seasoning, and another steamed lobster with no seasoning and melted butter on the side. Both were quite large and very fresh - the lobster had a lot of eggs in it, making it taste even more fresh. Finally, we ordered a medium rare steak that was cooked perfectly along with a Spanish type dish with fried cod, melted cheese and tomato sauce on top (I forgot the name!). Also, a huge shoutout to the owners who came over and greeted us throughout our meal! They were very enthusiastic and I appreciated the energy given that this was my first time back on the island. Big fan of the Cavendish Lobster Shack and I highly recommend anyone visiting PEI (only ~30 mins from Charlottetown)!

2025- we returned this year and were incredibly disappointed. The food was not good but was truely outdone by the horrid service. We had to flag down the "waiter" just to fill my mom's water. And when he brought it it just dropped it on the table and walked away, never asked if anyone else needed anything never, came to the table even once to see if we needed anything. It was not that busy so it should not have been an issue. The chowder i enjoyed so much last year was not as good and mostly potatoes, the whole clam dinner was not even available only clam straps. The fish was not good either tasted like frozen fish sticks. We will kot likely return. I suggest you don't either 2024- This place looks a bit unassuming from the outside but we decided to try it because one member of the party had previously enjoyed the lobster poutine and wanted it again. The food was spectacular. We were a party of 4 and had fish and chips, whole clam platter, lobster poutine and the seafood chowder and calamari as an appetizer. The chowder is the best I have tried on the island, and I get chowder almost everywhere I go. This was the best...and not just by a hair...but by far. Creamy and not more potato than seafood. The others in my party all said their food was also delicious. They also mentioned that the fries were also better than most any place. The lobster poutine had more lobster than I thought it would. Service was also...
